Odd thing and probably quite rare. Got my buddy that goes to school in Toronto to pick it up for me last week and I finally got posession of it yesterday. It must have been in their kitchen as theres grease stains all over the blades, its also been painted over with crappy house paint and has horrible bearings. But its super fast and the motor is probably cast iron but im not too sure. Its got two piece plastic upper and lower canopies, The lower one was off so I could get at the bearings with some penetrating oil. Im pretty sure I mounted the blades upside down in the pic, but I was really tired having worked till 7am yesterday and stayed up to about 4pm before finally crashing lol Potato pics! Ill take better ones when I get a chance.

WEIRD fan, yet so characteristically SMC it's not even funny. Can't wait to see it finished and running!

Very nice! While I generally prefer original colors, this will look great in brown.

I agree about the original colors... Is it missing the lower canopy?

I agree about the original colors... Is it missing the lower canopy? No I took it off to put some penetrating oil in the bearings and didn't bother to put it back on.

Its getting painted a nice glossy brown. Should look great. Are you going to strip and finish the blades or paint them brown too?

Even though I'm not a fan of three wood bladed fans, it's very cool, rare and I'm glad you you able to get this. I hope you were able to get it for a lower price. It's seems a lot newer than I expecting, judging by the canopy and sticker. This would be early 1980's. It's normal that the brackets faces the floor. CK56? That's sounds big for that wood blade fan. What size is this? I though it was 120 cm. If you can, try to scrape the paint off the sticker. About the painted gold line around the motor, if that bothers you and you cannot scratch the paint on it, you can always glue a gold ribbon around the metal ring from materials you can find in party supplies stores. You should not feel bad about painting it brown because theses fans actually came in brown so it's not like if you were creating something that hadn't existed. It's like what I did with my 1983 Canarm. What would not be original is to have the blades in a painted colour. Brown wood bladed fans have a wood blade finish. Theses in brown would normally have a walnut finish similar to this: www.vintageceilingfans.com/smclagunapolishbrassmodelkb36.htmlIf you can sand the blades enough, you should reach raw wood and after be able to create a wood finish with wood stain. It would look awesome but it requires more work. It would also allow you to have the wood tone that you want.
