I received this fan for free several months ago. I have been using it and have been pleased with it, running both the lights and fan off of a single standard wall switch.
I recently put in a duplex switch in order to control the lights and fan independently. I hooked the blue wire to one switch, the black to another.
The fan will only turn on then the light is also on. As I tried to troubleshoot the issue I learned how great this fan is, but also that it might be using some non standard controls. Does anyone know how I can wire this up?

It's a wiring issue somewhere, either in the fan, or in the new wiring you added. Really hard to troubleshooting, but you need to trace two separate hots from the switches to the motor and the lights, and then one neutral for both.

Thanks Dan. It's wired from the switch properly. I guess my question is, should this fan behave where the fan and lights can be independently controlled from standard switches (like most fans) or does it behave differently because it expects to be controlled by the special Sleep 3 switch?

Assuming it has a 3 speed pullchain, it can be controlled separately like any other normal fan, and something is wired wrong.
