I make videos because I put my heart and soul into it.. Or at least I try, I don't do it to make money off of it, that's a secondary thing, and yes it's good to have an option to make some chunk change off of what I do, but regardless of ad-sense being available on YouTube videos or not, I'd still be posting videos.. Yeah, making money is just one of few reasons. Dan and Zachary said he only posts ceiling fan videos for money.

I really don't like to speak for other people.. Dan may have said that, but he puts alot of detail in his videos and explains detail etc.. From what I've seen, I think there is alot of pride in what he does...

Thanks guys, and thanks especially for the kind words Adam . . . in fact, you're both right.
I used to only post pictures of my fans, work, installs, etc. Personally I prefer looking at pictures to videos. And many many people started asking me for videos. For a while I refused, making and uploading videos takes MUCH more time than pictures. It wasnt until I realized how much money I can make from videos that I decided it was worth my time. I make about $150-200 monthly from my videos.
I no longer post as many pictures, because both pictures and videos take time, and I dont have time for both . . . so I focus on the one that brings me money. Plus YouTube reaches a completely different audience than these forums and Facebook. When I do something extremely cool I try to do both but I dont always have time. And phone batteries are finite.
I do get excited when I am able to offer something particularly cool in my videos, BOTH because "OMG they're going to wig out when they see this" and "OMG this is going to make my YouTube earnings go way up!"
I wish I had the time do to what Cole, Adam, and others do . . . graphics, editing, background music, etc. Most of mine are just straight from the camera (phone) to online without even touching a computer. My wife says that's part of what makes them cool, "it's like someone is watching over your shoulder while you're working".

But if I can get to enough videos, I can make over $100 or $200 per month.

Enjoy it while you can, Adsense will get smarter and start choosing videos... They can already detect shaky and dark video, it will be a matter of time where at bot will detect armature vrs professional.. Your videos are very nice Adam! Its very obvious when watching them that a lot of time and effort was put into them. While I don't have as much time to put into making videos, so the editing and composition may not be the best, I always try to make videos of what my subscribers ask for, and provide plenty of information to make people want to watch them and find them useful. I thought they already had many requirements the videos/channel had to meet before they would make any sort of revenue?

So does Zachary, he's right up there with Adam as far as what he does for the fan collecting community. You're an outrageous person.

This is a very different approach, making quality videos that people like but also getting the ad revenue is perfectly understandable. While videos that are fully edited have a much more professional appearance to them, I equally like videos in the style you upload for the same reason your wife likes them.

Yeah, I already made over $500 so far. But if I can get to enough videos, I can make over $100 or $200 per month. That's disgusting. If you make $200/month by making bologna videos on YT, I'm only making double that at my real job which isn't easy.

Actually it doesn't matter if you edit the videos at all, it's a matter of how you "Point and Shoot", how much detail and lighting and also how shaky the video is.. How light weight and small they make cameras now a days, the slight spasm will be noticeable, and the video stabilizer feature doesn't work with ceiling fans too well, so that also has to be taken into consideration when shooting video.. Even if there is still some slight shakiness in a video, it's still fine.. But these videos with low light, very pixely, and very shaky on top of that is far from being watchable...

Even if there is still some slight shakiness in a video, it's still fine.. But these videos with low light, very pixely, and very shaky on top of that so sure far from being watchable… When I take a video with my iPhone, its shakey as can be for the reasons you mentioned, so I try to always put it on something. When I use my DSLR camera to record, I can hold it freehand and they come out plenty stable. But, that also has an image stabilizer in the lens. I use the iPhone more often simply out of convenience, I can combine the clips together on the phone and render it there, then just import it to the computer for upload. When I use the camera, I have to import all the clips to the computer, then put them into Movie Maker (I know, the program sucks lol), then render it on the computer which takes forever unless I get out the more powerful computer, then upload them, it just elongates the process. But I may start doing it more often since it does after all yield a better image. One of my biggest irritations on ceiling fan videos is when a fan is recorded with the light kit on, then you can't see the fan. Just out of curiosity, even though its totally irrelevant, I noticed you always tend to use 2 punctuation marks, especially with periods. Why is that?

Hands down I make videos because I like to share what I do with other people, AND present them with a quality product, which is why YouTube-generated money went back into purchasing my new camera. Monetizing is a nice feature, but I made videos for years without any compensation and would still do so no matter what.
I LOVE what Dan does with videos. Editing a quality product is great if you're just gonna show the basic functions and such like Adam and I typically do, but Dan puts all kinds of extra stuff in that is so interesting to watch, and it doesn't need editing because it's candid and real.
To refer back to the original post about videos, other people who make videos answer forum-based questions on the forums. As Jordan said, YouTube is a supplement. If you're going to bother posting your video up here, you can't just say to look at the video. We're not going to pick through your videos to answer our own questions.

If I go a month without adding any new popular content, it drops to like $30.
