Evergo Industrial Enterprise Ltd, model 3E-2LM P3S, 36-inch dated april 1984, wasn't working at all, found it was wired wrong, got it working again but it seems that the compositor is going bad since it goes faster in reverse than forward.

It could be. Replacing the capacitor is an easy enough fix if you make CAREFUL note of the wiring.

Sounds like the capacitor.. As Dan said, note the wiring before replacing it, and note the values and voltage, and how many wires coming out of the capacitor (Probably 3) and post it here, and I'll post an eBay link to one.. Should be less than $10 for a new replacement..

Very neat fan! Hopefully a new capacitor will get it running properly again.
