So this week is what we here in Fargo/Moorhead like to call Clean Up Week. Basically it's spring cleaning, but people throw out all their junk this week of the year and the city picks it up free of charge. I was looking for a new tv for the garage as the one I had from Clean Up Week last year recently went out on me. I actually ended up with three, and I have to narrow down which one I want to keep. Anyway, the important stuff: I picked up a Menards builder looking fan in an ivory color, not really great but it was free after all. I also picked up all the parts to an SMC U-52 except for the missing motor/switch housing, these were rained on so not in great condition. And now the best part, a white Sears/Emerson TOC with absolutely everything except the blades which are fairly easy to replace. And it's only Monday people, the fans are still out there waiting. ;D Pics to come...

Sounds cool! Hope you find some nice stuff. Where I live we have big trash pick-up months but I havnt seen any fans sitting on the curb yet, which could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Update: Not really CF related, but since I have the existing thread I'll post it here. Found a box for a 9" Galaxy, no fan but the box is cool anyway. Also found a 12" Galaxy and a battered later Lakewood box fan, both have the cords chopped off as so many electronics and such do this week (scrap collectors take them off).

Sounds like you picked up some cool stuff! That's pretty neat that you guys have that; it's a great way to get some cool fans. Hey, does your white Sears-Emerson TOC look like mine? ;D

Exactly the same Rick, but mine has a single fitter and I even found the floral globe in the pile while searching for the blades. Bearings in mine are pretty bad, if on low speed and you turn it off it only takes about 10 or so seconds to stop. I'll get pics up at the end of the week, in case I find more stuff I won't have to add it later.

Wow, Cole!
Those people sure are simpletons if they throw away perfectly good fans like those!
My pickup is today...no fans in sight.

Pics everyone! I'm just gonna put them all up, might not be in order, just going by the order I took the pics. TOC: For reference I used my Sears "1895" blades... Menards: It's supposed to be white, for some reason one side of the fan is kind of tan and the other side is whiter... Though the pic did show it all white... Galaxy box: No fan Galaxy: The joint for the up and down adjustment is busted, fan always wants to tip down. Got it to sit up for the pic though. Lakewood: Notice dent on the right side SMC Parts: Bad condition after the rain, but still handy to have Summer Breeze: I haven't put it up yet as it needs a really good session of degreasing which I don't have time for right now. Lady Delta: Was coated in mud to begin with, cleaned up nicely but blades are slightly yellowed. CEC Georgian: Upper parts coated in ceiling paint, some on the blades covering the stencil.
