Has anyone here had any luck with ceiling fan finds at Habitat Restores?
I really haven’t. A few months ago I saw an ad on Facebook for ceiling fans at the Vero Beach Habitat. I saw in the pictures was a white Original, white 42” Charleston, some Dixie Belles, a Hunter Eastern Shore and I think a Southern Classic.
Anyway I made the 1.5 hour trip there and none of it was even there! Very disappointed.
I also tried a small town Habitat, it just had a Gazebo II and a Hunter Stonington, the whole store was very overpriced.
I’m thinking about trying some more but have my doubts.
My Habitat like 15 years ago used to get nice stuff like Originals, Emersons and older imports with big spinner motors. Unfortunately most of it was incomplete.
What’s annoying now is they seem to only sell whole fans if they come in assembled, otherwise I just find blades so I assume the motors got scrapped. It’s really aggravating, I thought about asking the to stop doing that but I doubt they’d keep them for one person.
They do have a few nice fans on the display like a Sears Lasko and a Casablanca Zephyr plus a Passport II.
Also I have noticed Goodwill does not seem to sell ceiling fans unless they’re in the box new, I guess they don’t accept used ones.
I have had good luck at the thrift store in the next town, I got my 2 Apollos, Dixie Belle and Grayton II there, and I notice the fans are always nicely put in boxes or bins.

I have a fan hobby, like most of us on here. In other words, I am just your average fan collector.

The only restore I go to occasionally gets fans. BUT its in a college town and everything there is cheap crap. There is a place like a restore that has better stuff but still mostly cheap stuff. I think restores are going downhill, at least for us fan collectors. All of the ones near me I think stopped taking them. I can ask a friend who would know but I am pretty sure they don’t. All these places are really bad at taking care of the stuff too. Its a shame to see so many really good fans get screwed ove rlike that.

We got our first habitat in 2014. When they opened they had about a dozen 90s cheap ish fans around $10 or so.
We then in 2016/7 got another one in my county at first it was good I got some casa blades and a Ferrari red lady delta.. prices were fine. Not ever more than 2 or 3 fans at a time but if it was complete they had it out front of the lighting section.
Around 2018 they moved to another location. They stopped taking fans and other than a pallet of those HD supply fans they sold for $7 each NIB haven’t seen another fan there. Wait they did have a FS III there once for sale since the move.
All the other ones in the area if I go don’t sell fans or are missing parts Etc.
I’ll go if I’m right near there to the one but that’s about it.
I’ve gone to a few out of state but it seems they’re always revamping the organization and they ruin it by the time I return. The one I am thinking of had a whole aisle of fans like 60 at least at a time for sale this Time all they had were blades and they just ruin it whenever they try to change something
