Does anyone know if the Fasco Porch Fan used a special motor, or is it just a Fasco Charleston with plastic blades? I found a set of Porch Fan blades and arms at Habitat and thinking about getting them in case someone needs them or if they do use a Charleston motor I may try to see if I can find one. I did not see anything else but the blades.

I would have to think that the Charleston-based Porch fan used the same motor as a regular Charleston. It was damp-rated, vs. wet-rated like the American Spirit-based "RainSafe" fan that could be put directly in the rain instead of having to be under cover. The flywheels on 4-blade Fascos were pretty much the same, and were metal flywheels, so they will fit a Charleston.

Yeah I was reading somewhere that the 3rd gen Porch Fans had specially treated metal, stainless steel hardware and totally enclosed motors. Whereas the older ones were identical to a Charleston indoor fan. I did pick up the blades today, they look like new. And they are apparently from a 3rd gen because they have the more bubbly or rounded blade badges.

I've seen a few of the Porch Fans on eBay. But one thing I've never seen in videos or photos are Fasco Rainsafes. The only place I've ever seen them is my neighbor's house used to have two on their back screen porch that was open to rain. Unfortunately they threw them away at one point. Of course I was young at the time and if I pointed to anything on the curb they said NO. Of course now they'd be snuck home at night. LOL Too bad all the good fans have been thrown out when I was younger I missed on so many.
The Rainsafes they had were the fabric kind with blue cloth blades and I want to say were four bladed. It's a shame because they were in great shape and not very old at the time. I bet you never see them anymore because they rusted out and the cloth blades rotted.
