Here's a video I made of these Low Profile fans at Dairy Queen. I've always liked these fans. They were installed in 2004-05, and replaced two white/PB close mount GE vent Palm Aires, a Moss AB GE vent close mount and an AB hugger.

I thought it was cool that Hunter had two versions of their Low Profile and that Home Depot got the (arguably) cooler looking one, with the regular builder vents instead of the horizontal ones. Fan looks like a hugger version of the Bayport, which I love the look of. But what absolutely kills the fan is that ceiling gap.

I love it too, it's a pleasing, clean look, and very traditional with a bit of modern. Some of the newer 52" Low Profiles still have this style housing, I've noticed. At least some of the refurbed ones on eBay.

These don't even show up on Hunter's website. I surmise that many of 'em are literally random spare parts Hunter is reusing from fans whose motors failed QC and reselling for cheap through CoreCentric, which is Hunter's QC partner. Unfortunately, ALL of the newer Low Profile-based fans have that stupid ceiling gap. It's not quite as bad as it used to be. They're all still slow and underpowered.

And all the returns I even once got one with a Lowe’s receipt in the box. I know a few years ago they made the motor housing larger to offset the gap and I saw on the new oakhursts they’ve made it even larger and it’s definitely bulkier however I don’t know if that solved the ceiling gap or not.

I guess that also probably explains why some of those listings don't have any model name. They are frankenfans. LOL

Our DQ had white 52" 5B Hunter Classic Originals up until they remodeled about 10 years ago and installed a tiled ceiling (the ceiling used to be open). There are no fans anymore unfortunately.

It's a smart business tactic because Hunter profits off components from fans that don't pass QC by simply compiling a new fan and replacing the bearings in whatever motors fail QC. The cost of new bearings is little compared to what they get back on a sale. Other companies tend to junk the whole motor. Given Hunter's past ('90s, '00s, '10s) it doesn't surprise me that they're selling frankenfans.
