I didn't want to clutter Parkman's thread so I thought I'd start one. Noah mentioned the Emersons so I took a look. I'd seen them before but haven't really paid much attention to them.
I really like the Pennbrooke Select now. I see there is an LED uplight option that plugs in, which I'm not sure how I feel about. I like the uplight idea but being LED module based it's not easily repairable and the modules were $65 each!
The Premium I like as well but to me the blade badges just seem out of place with the design of the motor. I'd like it better if the arms were simpler curves.
Really I'm just daydreaming possible scenarios if I'm able to buy a house at some point. Coming up with a selection of fans for bedrooms, kitchen, living room, porch, etc. Last year I got a few Casablancas so I could use those. Probably the brushed nickel XLP for the living room and the Delta II in white for the kitchen. For the bedrooms I'd likely get Paramounts and I've thought of getting two at the prices they are now but I don't have a lot of space. Now I'm thinking maybe a Pennbrooke Select for the living room (I really hope to find something with vaulted ceilings when I am able to buy!)
I'm thinking if I keep waiting there won't be any K55 or XLP fans left since it's already drying up. Like Parkman I'm not really sure about the current spinner Hunters and Casas. I am warming up to the idea of DC motors though, especially with the new flywheel style DC that Emerson has come out with. Also I like the idea of having Emerson fans because I have a collection of the antique desk fans with the 77 and 79 series, etc so it was nice to know they were still making quality ceiling fans. Although, I kinda wish they would have had some recent models with K55 that are more traditional looking like the old 1895, etc. If they made a slightly modernized 1895 style 5 blade fan with a K55 or K55 ecomotor I'd buy it.

The Pennbrooke is K55 so that is a plus The Paramount XP I like my wife however does not seems to be the proportions for her. The Premium's are great they're basically the closest thing to the old XLP Panama's we all know and love with a traditional look. I bought one same as you waiting for my house. Probably gonna go in the Living Room I got hand carved blades to go with it so I'm really excited for that and I got them for like $60 on ebay. I agree with you get em while you can the XLP/K55's eventually they will be rare or used only if you're looking for new. If I was gonna go DC I think I'd have more trust for Emerson as it was more then likely developed by Emerson while they were still owned by Emerson before going over to Luminence. Other then MDF of looking cheap in some finishes the Emerson Pro Series I've encountered are silent and not bad for builder fans at all. I'm with you on a new version 1895 I'd definitely buy one. My goal has always to find an AB one NIB they are hard enough to find used in my area so I added the NIB requirement lol. (Of course if I find one used I'm snagging it too )

Cole do you like the Emerson Prima?

Cole do you like the Emerson Prima? I hadn't really looked it at closely so I just did. I wouldn't say I dislike it, although I think I prefer the Pennbrooke Select. I'd be happy with either fan though. The Emerson Designer I like the looks of too, I wish it had the K55. Really I was thinking putting my brushed nickel XLP with the wide blades as the living room fan but having an uplight would be nice. I can see what she means on the Paramount XP. The motor housing is quite thick and seems more proportioned to a 60" fan or maybe a 56" although that's only 2". Basically it's like how I have my Fasco Great Room. It's meant to be a 56" fan but when I got it the blades were nowhere to be found so I put 52" blades on it and the housing looks so thick with that size bladespan. Although it doesn't bother me, and I actually prefer how it looks to a 5 blade Charleston.

Cole, who makes the Premium you reference? do you have a link to that? The paramounts are beautiful fans but may not work in all places. In fact, the panama xlp's didn't seem to work for me in an open space, but looked great in the bedrooms, whereas I think the paramounts would overwhelm the bedroom and be too formal. They dropped to $62 on amazon at one point but are at $69 now. Whoever posts the youtube channel "vintage fans and more" has a really nice video that completely sold me on it.

Vintage Fans and More is Cole Semanko, really good guy! $62 is a no brainer for a Paramount XP especially when you consider you go to Lowes and buy a Harbor Breeze Classic thats at least $50-55. I agree each fan can be installed in a setting where it looks amazing and other times it looks like crap. I have a nice Brass Hunter Summer Breeze which is a 52" in my workshop it is way to oversized for the room (visually) however it fits the room perfectly!

Didn't know you bought a Premium already; you've gotta shower us with pics after you close and begin moving in to the new spot Yup, you've gotta snatch 'em up while you can. Thankfully you can still buy Fanimation FK2100 Islanders because they still make them, and Emerson kept their K55XL around up until this year so there will be plenty of those around for a few more years. Also, the future is very bright for Emerson's DC fans after the Luminance move. Looking at the 2020 catalog I'm pleasantly surprised at what Emerson's product line is shaping up to be. Emerson came up with their new K55 Eco after that transition to Luminance; seems to be a DC stack-style motor that kept the rubber flywheel around. Probably way more powerful than a K55. Plus the other DC fans Emerson has released are impressive as well. I really like their new Ion Eco and Floret Eco models. I love 1895s but they virtually don't exist in my area. There's only one on eBay and the shipping is the same price as the fan.

Some 1980s houses here have 1895s in them. I very, very rarely see Casablancas or Fascos around here, if anything Fascos are the more common, then Emerson (usually 70s-80s ones though) and then Casa. Some higher end homes here have showroom grade but it's more middle of the road like Concord, Monte Carlo, Minka Aire or Quorum.
I saw the new Emerson motors when Adin Panthers posted on them recently. I was impressed with the new motors. It's just I'm more traditional so a lot of Emerson's styling is just too flashy for me, but I have changed a lot. Since before I wouldn't have probably been as interested in the styling but now I am starting to like it more.
From what I heard Fanimation was sticking with the K55 style motors because they were able to make them draw less current, is that changing, or are they keeping them?
I was thinking to have stack motors in the public areas and do spinner in the bedrooms but I can see what you mean on the fans fitting the room or not. I've also got my eye on a couple Passport IIIs here if this virus mess ever passes soon enough that I might pick up for a bedroom or something since they'd be pretty good but cheap.

Dan, they're made by Emerson. They're really good quality, with Emerson's K55XL rubber flywheel which is similar to the Casablanca XLP motors. They have an uplight option as well, either with the small incandescents or on some having a ring of LEDs. EVERYBODY here has Hunter fans. The new K55 Eco is only in Emerson's new Premium and Crown Select models right now. Other DC motor Emersons don't have the rubber flywheel or what seems to be a stack-motor design, but fun fact: the Penbrooke Select Eco uses an isolation ring on its DC motor to make the blade brackets (originally designed with American standard hole spacing for the flywheel of the K55 version) fit. If you've seen any of my early posts here on VCF you'd know I really used to dig those mid-century fan designs that were popularized in the '90s. I still like those but a lot of these newer industrial/chic/ultramodern designs have really grown on me. Fanimation's FK2100 is still around because they got the current draw down to around .7 amps and 85 watts. Their classic Islander looks better and probably sells more than the DC Islanders they used to have, even though the DC was way torquier and handled that 20° pitch and load far better than the FK2100 did. Yeah, it's always best when you look at what fans fit where before considering stack vs spinner vs skeletal vs DC motors and whatnot. Passport IIIs would make for a nice bedroom fan; I personally would go for Paramount XPs since they look so similar and they're a steal for $69. How much are the Passport IIIs? The Premium came with the uplight from then until this year when the K55XL Premiums were discontinued; the uplight is optional on the K55 Eco ones.

I do like them though. I like the proportions of Cole S.'s Antique Brass one. I'm interested to see if Emerson keeps up there extensive line up or if there will be some sort of consolidation (I hope not) at this point they should discontinue Concord since Luminance has both brands at this point and take whatever good stuff they had and throw it over to Emerson since there actually is brand equity. Is it a full fan or just in parts I had seen a motor a few weeks ago.

Is it a full fan or just in parts I had seen a motor a few weeks ago. That will look really nice; dual hand carved blade Premiums. If you wanted to "cheap out" on blades, though, Casablanca's badge-style blades, or any badge-style blades for that matter, will work on these Premiums because they have the same four holes and hole spacing. I really like Islanders in general, and their proportions as both tropical and traditional fans (see Cole's black islander with Casablanca blades to see what I mean). I just haven't found a motor cheap enough for me to want to buy one. I think Luminance is gonna do away with their Concord brand. If you haven't noticed there's been no new releases of Concord fans for the past few years; I think they're gonna try to quietly get rid of their Concord inventory and focus on Emerson. People know about the Emerson brand and the level of quality they bring to the table. All of Emerson's staff and manufacturing/tooling facilities are the same as before so the only thing that's bound to change is how trendy their fans' designs are, which will help Emerson Air Comforts turn profit. The 1895 is in parts; no blades being sold.

Passport IIIs would make for a nice bedroom fan; I personally would go for Paramount XPs since they look so similar and they're a steal for $69. How much are the Passport IIIs? Fascos here are getting pretty uncommon but I still see them in real estate listings. I wish I had been older when my neighbors got rid of old Emersons and Fascos. The Passport III I last saw at Habitat was $20. There's been a white one in an antique shop for years but I never saw a price on it. Take this thread with a grain of salt, I've just been daydreaming of a house someday. This virus has been hard for us all, but while I haven't been personally affected physically, it's led to some very dark times for me mentally I'm fighting to get out of, and I need something to escape that, so ceiling fans is part of it. I really miss going to Habitat and sales on the weekend, and I really hope we get that back eventually! I generally am not a ceiling fan collector since I don't have many extra spaces for installs. Up to now I have an antique brass ventless hugger with stencil blades and schoolhouse globe, my parents got me that in 1991. It's in storage for years since we moved. I also have a Hunter Passport II white motor only. That's it, the rest were installed. I had a 42" SMC Grayton but that went to Will H long ago. Then last year I got interested in the outgoing Casas and purchased the XLP with oblong blades following Dano, and got a used Delta II in white. I've been thinking of how I'd use those in a house. I planned to get a Paramount XP but never did, I may later. I'm also interested in those bronze XLPs you posted with the light kits. I love the look of those. I even thought of getting one for my room now to replace the noisy Fasco I have up. I need more light and while I don't feel entirely sold on future issues with the in wall remote it and my brushed nickel one have, it would get me a light and fan in my room switched from the wall without having to run another wire. There's also a very cute Lady Delta on there now that is tempting. I figure if I ever get a house (who knows with the way it is now) I'd do this: Living room: Casablanca Panama XLP with oblong blades brushed nickel OR Casablanca Panama XLP bronze with light Kitchen: Casablanca Delta II in white Master Bedroom: Fasco Great Room in white or Hunter Paramount XP If master walk in closet: Casablanca Lady Delta in white Guest room or rooms: Hunter Passport III in antique brass or white I kinda remember when the uplights came out on the Emersons around that time.

As of 2020, the Penbrooke and the Premium/Crown will both be going to the "Premium K55 EcoMotor" which has a flywheel. You can't beat the Emerson DC EcoMotor when it comes to airflow, I love my Midway DC Eco.
