Does anyone recall off hand, what the CFM was for the hunter original PRIOR to being made in taiwan? (circa 1999 - 2000)
Seems hard to find this information online anymore...
Thanks!

You might try doing a search on that info here. I remember there being some threads on this back in the day. Here's one I found: ada19851985.proboards.com/thread/73/wanna-express-complaint-new-original?page=2Apparently the American Originals had a rating of 10,500 CFM, the new post 2002s had 6,900 CFM. There could be some discrepancies possibly in the tests though, I'm not sure if all variables are the same or not between the two. Also, it's possible that more recent Originals could have a bit better performance than the early imported models because there have been a few tweaks to the motors in the last decade or so. There was a change to the blade brackets as well in the past couple of years that caused there to be a little higher CFM as well.

The early Originals, like Cole said, had 10,500 CFM ratings, but this is based off of older testing methodology, and newer testing methods seem to display a trend of lower CFM ratings even for the same fan over time. Consistency across manufacturers and for given RPMs of certain fans that should be performing better or worse in the CFM test is lacking as well. Given CFM testing inaccuracies, I'll say this: US made originals are among the most powerful residential fans ever made, and are capable of trading blows with certain varieties of industrial fans. The first generation of Taiwanese originals (2002-2015), rated just short of 7,000 CFM, are usually comparable to beefy spinner motor (188×20mm+) and K55-type fans. The second generation Taiwanese originals (2015-current day), rated at around 7,500 CFM, tend to run at an RPM slightly faster than the first gen Taiwanese Originals and slower than most US-made ones, and are more comparable to high-end beefy spinner motor (212×20mm+) and some high-end DC motor fans.
