We have an apartment behind our house that we've always rented out, which has 3 identical spinners, I believe they are 36". Now that the latest tenants have moved out, I'm looking to remove them and put something that I don't care about in their place. The pull chains say SMC on them, which is what I always figured they were, but on the top of the motor housing there is a Kmart label, the manufacture date is also December 1993. Did SMC rebrand fans for Kmart? If so, what model are these? Here's the one in the master bedroom, the glass globe was removed because the light bulb they put on was too big. The 2nd bedroom: In the kitchen:

The canopies and blades are SMC. The motors are not. SMC did relabel fans for Kmart but those are not SMC motors. Wonder how that happened.

Do they have tags on top? They look like SMC fans. Whatever they are, I like them.

I've seen those around periodically, I've never really studied them...

Ironically it doesn't look too bad. The blades clearly comes from a SMC Laguna Deluxe 107 cm from the mid 1990's to early 2000's. The canopy would come from such a fan too as this SMC canopy did not existed before the mid 1990's normally. The motor and switch housing core is just like on a Encon Princess but I don't think this model existed in 1993 and an Encon would not have a Kmart sticker. Wouldn't this be an Atlantic Air or something like this? I'm not very familiar with Kmart fans as theses stores were very not very common in Québec, especially not in Montréal and most of them closed before the mid 1990's.
Mounted on this motor I would imagine this blade diameter would come to a little under 107 cm. They look like to be exactly a meter across which is not an official ceiling fan blade diameter.

There is a (remote) chance that these are 100% genuine SMC fans, depending upon how late they were manufactured. Keep in mind that they produced many non-characteristically SMC fans from the late 90s to mid-2000s. Also, the possibility exists that Lagunas were originally installed there, however (for whatever reason) somebody swapped the motors with K-Mart spinners. I've seen those around periodically, I've never really studied them... If I may ask, how many have you spotted?

The motors look like Encon/Westinghouse Princess motors, the blades and canopies, as others have alreayd stated, are SMC parts. The blade arms, at least I don't think, are SMC. Most SMC fans, even relabels, had SMC labels on top of the motors/motor housings... if these don't, then they're definitely NOT SMC. Then again, they look like the 'Atlantic Air' branded spinners that were sold at Kmart in the late 1980s thru the mid 1990s, and you said you saw Kmart labels on top of them. They *could* be Atlantic Airs.

I'm not sure how many exactly.. I think I've seen a few different variations of them too.. The first I can remember was at a small lawyers office where I spotted a little Scotty's Hardware Bellaire Ceiling Fan back in 2004, I came in to ask if they would sell it or i could offer a replacement fan.. They said sure.. Never got around to doing it, but I remember for the first time seeing one of these on the other side of the wall where the office and teller window is..

Seeing that certainly clarifies that these are not SMC. As for the actual OEM, I am uncertain...

Could these be made by Canarm?

I agree with the others SMC canopy, Encon Princess motor not sure about the blade arms. One of my neighbors had an Atlantic Air white spinner in the bathroom but I can't remember enough about it to say if it was like this.
I do like these fans a lot though, the Princess motors are so tiny.

Could these be made by Canarm? I have never seen an Canarm with this motor.
