That Dominion box fan is the real deal.. That is an odd color for the Holmes.. I don't recall ever seeing those fans outside of typical colors..

You started this thread even before the summer. You have been busy.
I love those five bladed Holmes. I didn't know they made them in all these colours. I had only seen them in white with green blades around 1999. How are are these colored versions?
I remember this four blade General Electric pedestal fan at Wal-Mart in the mid 2000's. Do they perform well?
The 1940's Emerson desk fan in my favorite. I would love to have one in this size.

I think they perform the same as the others. This is the only one I've ever seen, I don't know anything about them. It makes me wonder what other colors they might have made. I think Walmart only sold GE pedestals from 2000-2001, but I can't say for sure. They also made Lasko 16" versions under the GE brand and a box fan with the current blade style. The GE branded Laskos are HUGE childhood fans for me. As far as performance, I'd say it is the most powerful pedestal I have, it is just a re-branded Holmes with a different grill design. I was excited to find the Emerson, even though it has a few issues, I feel like I got a good deal on it. It seems like a lot of collectors like the Emerson 77 series fans.

I love the old ones. Very nice MattS
What is the use of the boxed ones? To put on the Window?
One question do you run your fans everyday and all day? Im asking that because I have one KDK since early 70s (my parents bought it in 1972/3) and she runs everyday since then, i think its very hard to beat, and sometimes she runs 24/7 30 days during summer months. Its like a Toyota!!!!

Its like a Toyota!!!! Yes, I frequently put the box fans in the window, I also use them on the floor a lot. I don't use them in the window in the middle of summer since the AC is on, but if I'm working in the attic which is not air conditioned I will use at least 4 of them (two pulling air in, and two pulling air out). I really enjoy putting a box fan in my bedroom window in the spring to pull in some fresh air. Generally, the longest any of my fans seem to run non-stop is about 8 hours. They can easily handle more, but I don't need to and my parents will yell at me for running up the electric bill. Two of our Holmes pedestals seem to run at least a few hours a day, my 12 inch Holmes desk fan is the one I've been using when I sleep, but that's only when I need it. Some fans definitely see more use than others. Running a fan regularly does no harm to it at all, especially one like the KDK you mentioned. As long as you keep it well oiled and the motor free of dust, it will probably outlive us all:)
