I'd thought I would create a thread for all finds from thrift stores, yard sales, garage sales for the summer. This weekend I went to every garage/yard sale I could find. While most had nothing but junk, there were a few that had some fans at them. First I got this Lakewood 223 from the local Salvation Army. Unfortunately it has the less powerful Samsung motor just like my Robeson, except not reversible. I actually had a dream the night before that I found another Robeson 2385 at this exact store, but instead I found another box fan with the same motor. I didn't get a chance to take a better pic yet, so here's one of it at the store. It was the most expensive item I bought this weekend at $7.99. Later model 9" Lasko type 9, I got it for $5 I got this Duracraft reversible window fan for $2, it works great but unfortunately the rear grille is cracked, yellowed, and extremely brittle. I will need to find another grille before I can put it into use. I also got a couple ceramic heaters. First is one of my favorite heaters, a Pelonis disc furnace: At this particular sale, it was a mother and daughter operation and they had no price tags, you just made them an offer. It looked in good condition so I offered them $5, the daughter said how about $1, I gladly accepted. and to keep it fan relevant This one does not run very well, the heating element seems to work well but the blade only spins very slowly. It almost sounds like it needs oil, but the spin down time is long enough to suggest otherwise. I took it apart and looked for any loose wire connections, but couldn't find any. I'll have to take it further apart and see if I find anything. Fortunately I only paid $1 for it, but I really want to save these because I like them and you don't see them for sale very often, especially at a reasonable price. My great-grandmother had an identical one that she wanted to get rid of a few months ago, because she thought it's old and unsafe, and my great-grandfather is no longer around to make sure it's safe. But I took it home and it works great. Finally, here's a Tatung Heat Devil Since I was a little kid, I've really wanting a ceramic heater in black for some reason and I finally got one, this one cost me $3.

I have one of those Lasko 2009 fans,, the newer version.. I had to add some weights to the center of the blade because it shook so bad,, but now that it's balanced it's a nice fan.. Rather quiet and pushes a good breeze..
I've always liked those window fans that have the dual fan control.. Albeit probably not real effective, it's a neat concept..
I believe that Tatung heater would have had some sort of a foam dust filter attached to the back..

The Lasko runs nice and quietly, but the oscillator makes a "click" when it passes a certain point while going from left to right. The dual controls and the design in general are the reasons I got it despite its condition. Both heaters have their original filters, I just took them off to take a pic of the fan.

My Lasko has never oscillated correctly since the day I got it.. The oscillation goes so far to only one side, and its really stiff,, the fan notably slows down as it moves..

Those ceramic heaters used to be popular in the 90s. I have a Sears catalog that shows some and there were ones with wood cases even. Duracraft used to have one similar to those you have, I remember seeing them in stores.
As for the Lasko oscillating, could the neck joint need lubricating or freeing up? Maybe it is bound up.

I didn't think of that before, but that sounds like the problem.

Here's some more finds from this past week: Holmes Pedestal: 7 inch Holmes Air: Found this Duracrest at an Estate sale: Dayton rebranded Galaxy: Windmere: 16 inch Holmes Air: Walmart GE rebranded 19 inch 4 wing Holmes: The base is obviously not original on this one, but I was still very happy to find this one. More to come, I just haven't taken pictures yet.

Thank you, I'm most excited about the Emerson, Duracrest, and GE branded Holmes. The Westinghouse and Lakewood are the only ones that are clean.

I paid $25 for it, it needs an oscillator knob and the gear is missing a screw. Like with the Holmes box fan, if I come across another, it's yours.

Nice, I like them all! I have one of those Emersons and it's one of my favorite fans, very quiet yet very powerful. The Duracrest was made by Hunter and is a sort of high-velocity fan. The 12" Holmes oscillator I believe was called Holmes Signature, hence the cursive badge. They made a pedestal version also and came in blue and pink and possibly gray. I saw that little HolmesAir oscillator at an estate sale awhile ago, I think the one I saw was blue, I contemplated getting it but decided not to. The 5 blade Holmes pedestal was one I used to see all the time in the 90s, I remember them on display at Walmart and I can remember an employee assembling that very fan for the display back then. The K-223 looks to be in great shape... I saw one of those at an estate sale a few years back but there was an avocado S-223 right next to it so I went for the S-223 instead as I figured it was the rarer of the two. I saw another K-223 at Habitat recently but it was rusty and broken grilles so I passed it too. I always thought those Kel-Aires were interesting, they have a modified GE blade and I think sometimes had a GE motor, some had Marco. The Poweraire is nice too, looks like someone stripped the paint and polished it up, nice look.

I suspected the Druacrest is made by Hunter, over at DT, there is a Kenmore version in the 1961 Sears catalog, as well as the Hunter version. I grabbed the 7" Holmes mainly because I've never seen one from that era with the gray blades. The Kel-Aire actually has a Westinghouse motor.

Here's some more. Dominion at a thrift store: Got these both at a yard sale. Sears branded Galaxy with a thermostat: Holmes in an unusual color: I've never seen one like this before, I'm not sure if it is a reddish-brown or maroon.
