My Kuo Horng and Holmes box fan desperately need oil, their spin down times are extremely short. I haven't been using them for that reason. A couple other fans of mine could use some oil as well. Because I'm fairly new to this, I don't want to risk damaging them. What kind of oil would work best for those motors? Do different motors need different oil?

If you're cheap, zoomspout or 3-in-one in the red and blue striped can will work. Personally, I use Royal Purple 68 for my fans and there's a huge difference in oil quality compared with traditional oil. I also have many high dollar rare fans though so I prefer to keep them in tip-top running condition.

I've used both the ZoomSpout and the 3-in-1 blue can (non-detergent) oil and both have worked well in a variety of different fans.. The important thing is to use non-detergent oils,, over time the detergent ones can become counter productive..
