Has anyone ever had issues with bugs in fans you have found? I found a dead ladybug in the motor housing on a 10" GE. I also had found some old mud wasp nests in the base of an Emerson 77648 that had been in a barn for years. Had to chisel the mud out. Other than that fortunately no issues. I try to inspect fans really well before I bring them into my home, especially enclosed areas like bases, etc that they could be inside of. I never have issues with bugs in my house other than occasional moths, ants, lizards etc coming in.

Iv had my fair share of run ins with bugs in fans. one of the first times i had that happen was when i got this 2nd gen Kmart K-223 2nd gen. it had sat out at my friends area where he keeps scrap metal for awhile. (got rained on and stuff) and i got it home and the motor was FILLED with water bugs. they were crawling everywhere. and a few other fans iv got have had spiders and spider nests in the motors and stuff like that. but my worst was a fan that had a mouse nest inside the cabinet.

Well figured id update this..heres some of the stuff iv found in fans over the years.. Spider nest and live spiders in a Mc Millin for a Robeson box fan.. Dead carcus in a Kel Air i had. Dead Mouse in a cheap Galaxy boxer i got out of the trash. at first i thought it was a wad of hair.. The mouse nest in a 1993 Galaxy 3723.
And god knows what i pulled out of this..2007 Galaxy. And yes. i cleaned out everyone of these fans. gotta get dirty for the sake of your hobby..LOL

I didn't know one of those Lasko fans could run long enough to collect that much dust!

i bought a xpelair GXC6 from UK which was mentioned "unused" when i recieved it i found a group of dead spiders inside the casing, apparently it was stored for so long that spiders once inhabited inside it
i had a few ceiling fans with cockroaches living inside it with eggs all around i didnt notice until i found cockroaches in my car.. that was the worst part
i also have a ceiling fan that had an ant graveyard inside the motor on the winding stator
