Yes, it is wired for light and fan. If I used the switches as you suggest, what about the double lights? The lights work independently, right? Thanks for all your help.

The fan's upper and lower lights are controlled using a "three-way" pull chain switch. The sequence is as follows: I, II, I+2 and off. If you require any additional assistance, feel free post your questions! Since wiring will be my livelihood in the near future, I have become quite accustomed to working with it

Since wiring will be my livelihood in the near future, I have become quite accustomed to working with it Thank you so much for your help, Max. I wondered how the upper/lower lights worked together/separately, but you have answered that question. I would lose that functionality with a remote, I think. They'd either both be on, or off (unless I leave them on and use the pull chain). I like the idea of having a remote, because it's going to be in the master bedroom. However, I can see my husband cursing the process of fitting that little thing in the housing, and doing the re-wiring. I found a great YouTube video on how to do that, and it's not that hard at all. I watched both of the videos you posted again, and they made much more sense to me this time. If I was strong enough, I feel confident I could probably install it myself! I did realize I need an install kit, because the part that the fan bolts on to was not given to me when I bought it.

I did realize I need an install kit, because the part that the fan bolts on to was not given to me when I bought it. The screws that connect the mounting brack to the junction box? or the mounting bracket was not included. This is a mounting bracket. When I usually buy fans off of craigslist, sellers tend for forget this part is important to the fan. They can be found at The home depot or lowes, but some are specific to certain ceiling fans.

It's the mounting bracket, the thing the ball hangs from - which is what you have pictured. Thanks.
