miami.craigslist.org/brw/fuo/4715096233.htmlWent on the CL ad expecting to get the GEC Moss Caribbean Breeze, and was greeted by a 48" metal version too, a version I've been looking for too.. I asked for the controls, the husband opened up the utility closet door and there I saw the control, and he pulled out a DEMC control too.. I gave them $15 for the batch.. They were in a big beautiful upper class home.. I saw 2 flush mounted TATs with the flatter type switch housing still installed.. Nice way to end the weekend...

Wow very nice. I love the middle size Moss Caribbean Breeze. I wish they were more common in the United States.
Apparently they also had a nice chunky four blade GE vent.

Didnt realize this was near you, I was trying to get Matthew to pick it up for me!
Dont you already have two of the 48"? If not, what size are the ones you already have? What I REALLY want is the 36".

Oh no wonder the lady thought I was a Matthew.. It's the 48" model like all the other ones including the one you just got...

"Mine" is going in the museum. I know where a brown 48" one is, but it's missing the little nose cone on the bottom.
Funny, 48" is probably the size I want least. I want 36" most, and then second 56". I hope one turns up.

48" seemed to be the most common sized between the three, as I use to see alot of these and they were all 48".. I've never knew a 56" model existed.. I would like a DB one, but all the ones I come across are white.. I use to not like these fans very much, but seeing how they have become rare, I really like them.. I also notice there were two different types of lower canopies.. One that's wider and has the Caribbean label and the one that seems to be more common that's the same as the upper canopy..

Mine has the label, but it's the same size as the upper.

This is the second time I've seen someone with these two fans, the guy on eBay I bought my noisy one from also had the larger one for sale, and it too had the original box and things of that nature. I think it sold for $50. Maybe I should have gotten that one instead, wonder if the bearings are damaged on that one as well.
How are the bearings on these two you got? They look like they're in very good condition, and that's great you were able to get the chokes too.

When do you think that you will install these?

It's normal for bearings to be stiff, dry, or noisy if they've been sitting without being used for decades. The black stuff in yours isnt normal.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think at one point the fan may have gotten wet, and the black junk was rust of some sort. The box has some water damage, assuming the fan was in the box when it got wet which is very likely given it was never installed, that would explain the extra damage to the bearings.
