I guess this would be the appropriate place to post this.
Did anyone else's K-Mart have a display. All of the area Kmarts near me had no displays but the one built in 2004 had a 4 aisle fan display with 4 or 5 per aisle. Obviously they were Heritage's and I believe one Hunter... But I didn't know if Kmarts had displays elsewhere.

Mine had the fan display up through the early 2000s. It was like three aisles, but near the end of its life there were hardly any fans hanging and no more power applied to it.

The K-mart in Aspen Hill, MD near where I grew up had a fan display but I want to say they took it down in the late 1990s, it's been gone a long time. The K-mart near my grandparents' on the Eastern Shore of VA had a fan display also and that one lasted probably until the early 2000s.

We still have Kmarts they have generic Heritage rebranded fans I believe. The GE Vent one and so forth that they have had for years as well as other cheaper hugger models. I've heard once or twice of randomly a 90s fan popping out when they do inventory or something but I never have seen this. It would be neat thats for sure if that occured.

When I was doing some Christmas Shopping with my Mom, I went by the fan "department" 20 boxes thrown up on shelves with four or five different models. They appear to have cheapened them again to a new generation of Heritage looking fans. Now they have stickers on them according to the box that will differentiate the pull chains (I guess rather than give a different pull chain with the little picture of the fan or light like Hunter and Harbor Breeze do now). I truly wonder how much longer Kmart/Sears will be with us...

Figured I'd bump this thread since Kmart looks like it will be gone by 2018 AT THE LATEST. Sears released a week or so ago that they have "substantial doubt" about their being able to stay in business and pay vendors, etc.
We still have had no Sears closures but as for our "region" Kmart has been closing up like crazy. Out of the 4 stores (I've actually been at) within 25 miles we have one left now. The others were dumps, the one that remains is actually well stocked and maintained however the building is starting to wear out. Light bulbs burning out, Air conditioning units dirtier then a highway, and little things like for example their is 12 or so check out lines. At most 3 are ever opened. Usually it is 2, however regardless if 2 or 3 are open they keep this one register line open... The conveyor belt is broken so you have to move all your items up or else the cashier can't scan them... Why they don't move to a different register EVER in the last few months is beyond me.

The Kmart and Sears in my town are open for now. A Sears about 45 minutes away that was a bigger one, and really nice closed a few months ago.
Our Kmart is one of the nicer ones, it was built in the early 90s but is well maintained and clean but it's never very busy. It hasn't been redone but they did redo the restrooms. I haven't bought anything from there in forever, it's sad seeing how slow it is compared to how it was back in the 90s/early 00s. I bet they only have two checkouts open at most. Back in the day it was busy enough they had self-checkouts for a while and two lines open in the garden center.
I do wonder what will happen to the mall here if both Sears and Kmart close because they are 2 out of the 5 anchors, and a third being JcPenney which is also in bad financial shape from what I hear. But the JcPenney seems busier compared to Sears and Kmart.

But the JcPenney seems busier compared to Sears and Kmart. JcPenney is doing much better then Sears and so forth, I believe they actually have been posting little profits. Once Sears goes they will probably take a lot of their business from the clothing and home goods sense. Unfortunately JCPenney doesn't have any tools but Sears is finishing up on selling Craftsman so thats the end of that. Some of the JCPenney's added a new appliance section to fight Sears. They gave our local one an appliance center and redid a lot of things in there. I'm not saying JCPenney won't not close a few more unprofitable stores but I do personally believe that they will make it in the long run just like Macy's will. Sears won't because they've been deconstructed by design since they merged with KMart (Check out some of the articles online).

I'm not sure what will happen with Craftsman or Diehard. I figure that Ace will get the Craftsman brand, because they have been selling them for quite some time. I heard that the Kenmore brand will probably be sold as well, but probably not until Sears goes out of business.
Our JcPenney doesn't sell large appliances.

Apparently Stanley/Black & Decker will end up with Craftsman. Ace had a deal but now Craftsman will be available where ever B&D wants to sell them.
