Think that fan is worth bidding on? Looks to be in great shape. He is located in NJ, as am I. So I emailed him and asked if I could pick the fan up. With the starting bid only 1 dollar, and most likely no one bidding on it, I am definitely going to if he will let me pick it up. The town he says he lives in I have never heard of, but wherever it is, it can't be that far, its a small state! lol. My only thing is I always see that model with the variable speed control busted. This guy isnt going to likely know if it works or not since it is no longer on the ceiling. And I have no idea how to fix that type of control if it is broken. Anyway, someone let me know if you think it is worth bidding on as it is now. Thanks!
Raymond

Well, I bid on it! Anyway, turns out this guy is a hell of a lot further away than I thought, 130 miles or so. With NJ traffic and his location, it is a no-question 3 hour ride. But spring break begins thursday so I will have alot of free time, and he would arrange for pickup. Even though shipping would only be around 15, thats actually less than I would use on gasoline for the round trip. Plus, I am always looking for an excuse to go somewhere, so we'll see. Anyway, wish me luck on the bidding! (but I do not see a bidding war anytime soon...lol)

That's a collectible fan, take good care of it (assuming you win).

Well so far no one bid, looks like I will be getting it for a buck!!! I asked the guy if I no one else bids on it if I could just pay him when I picked it up, I would have to have to set up a PayPal account just to pay him a dollar or so...lol Anyway, I will no question take care of it, but the problem is I can't think of where to hang it. I might hang it in the bedroom of my dad's apartment. My question is, those variable speed NuTones, are they quiet? My dad is anal about noise and he has to have a quiet fan. I put a Sears Emerson Turn of the Century in his living room and he loves it since it is totally silent. Let me know. If it wont work there b/c of noise, I will ask around to see if I can install it for a family memeber.

I put a Sears Emerson Turn of the Century in his living room and he loves it since it is totally silent. Let me know. If it wont work there b/c of noise, I will ask around to see if I can install it for a family memeber. Here's the thing: Variable speed fans have a tendancy to be more noisy than 3 speed fans. 1. Spinner motor fans-- rarely are spinner motors quietly compatable with variable speed controls, but that doesnt apply here since this fan has a K55 2. K55 motor fans-- generally speaking, K55 motor fans are silent or at least pretty quiet with variable speed controls. Some are silent. In fact, most were silent when they were new. But what can happen is, the varnish on the windings wears with age, and what you get is the extra AC "noise" the variable speed control puts on the line causes the motor windings to buzz against each other. A fresh coat of varnish can quiet them down.

Raymond, speaking of nutone fans, transportation to get your slimline is a problem; and with your last deal, "$10 pick-up fee", did that mean that you come to me with the fan and I pay you $10 or did it mean I come to you and pay you $10?

Andrew, I hope you're as helpful when you get those COmfort Breezes as you expect Raymond to be with this Lasko!

Looks like the guy that bidded against you is a fan collector, and is the same guy that won the auction that me and dan were looking into, 3 fans.......Adam

The other guy is a friend of mine . . . I emailed him and let him know that you were another collector and a friend . . . otherwise he would have probably bid you up to like $200 for that fan. He pays high prices for fans he wants.
And if you get outbid by someone else, most likely he will jump in again.
Adam, that's Ryan Sipka. You know him.
