all ya gotta do is, rig up a 13.8v (lose some voltage in rectifier) oh 2A transformer with a bridge rectifier and it'll run all the time. adrian was the battery box heavy? i.e. possible ac motor but batteries with an inverter?

we tossed them so fast----it wasn't even funny......believe me--they are junk.. and a bigger battery would have never fit. i stick to my good vintage fans---the deli has learned also --no more crappy fans.

You have to admit, it's a cool idea . . . a fan inside a patio umbrella. I'm surprised it's safe.
What about them new things Hunter offers where you can mount a fan on a lamp-post?
Back when I was younger, my brother loved to go to Chuck E Cheese . . . they had two Hunter Originals mounted on posts, however the posts went right into the switch housing, the downrod and canopies were removed.

I had one of those Encon Mobile Aire pedistal ceiling fans. The fan was a pile of junk so I changed it out to a Craftmade. I sold that setup to my bro's roomate.
BTW, How are you adrian? I havent talked to you in a year or too.

The fan ran at a very low speed. I think it had a dimmer on it. The fan had four blades. I think it was a homestead, it had a k55 in it.

Homestead's first fan was variable speed, and it was extremely ornate . . . similar to the Key Largo (the one with the 5 light kit) in Adam's gallery. I believe their first fan that had the same motor design as the Comfort Flow was 4 blade and variable speed . . . otherwise any six blade fan could be set up as a 4 blade fan. Matthew's the expert, but does he remember, now that his brain is so filled with cars?

the fan I saw was a much later model, from the 90's I'm guessing. I did come across a homestead with five blades at a thrift shop.

Perhaps it was one of the models right around the time Casablanca bought them out. Matthew? And if it was a newer fan, from the 90s, and had a variable speed control, I doubt it was Homestead.

There was only one five blade Homestead fan series. The 'Allseasons'. Based off the Casa Four Seasons. The way you describe this pole fan it seems like its either an older Wisper fan 1 or 2 (four blade) or a four blade Comfort flow. Homestead cancelled variable speed and 5-speed in late 1989

Homestead cancelled variable speed and 5-speed in late 1989 That's why I'm thinking it's not a Homestead . . . cause I mentioned Comfort Flow and that's when he said, no it's newer . . . so if it didnt look like the Comfort Flow (doesnt Wisper fan look just like the Comfort flow) it must not be Homestead. Which brings me to . . . what lead you to believe it was Homestead, Andrew -Fan Detective
