My Hunter Transitions 3blade spins a little on the sluggish side I think. Don't have any specs in terms of RPMs per speed.

Not this one though. Anything with palm leaf blades and the like is going to spin much slower as well. Not these Hunter Seascapes though, they spin as fast as most 52" ceiling fans and these fans are 54".

yes that's another snail/turtle type high speed Yeah, the RPMs are slow, but end of the blades move really fast and therefore, it blows a lot of air.

I definitely agree about the pre-90s NuTone models. There's a bowling alley around here that has a bunch of AB Sea Islands installed. They all run pretty slow, even the ones set to high speed.

Alturas may move slow but they put some air out though. We got one in once when I worked at Habitat. The blades must be made of balsa wood, though.
Incidentally they will spin quite a bit faster on reverse since the blades are curved to push more air on forward.

I never knew how much air it actually moved until I saw this one on forward. And as for it spinning faster on reverse, I already typed it in the description when I uploaded the video, and it runs on reverse in winter. Apparently, an employee had to change the wires to change the direction since it does not have a remote receiver wired. I wish it had an option for the blades to be flipped upside-down for reverse.

And this fan probably would have spun slightly faster on reverse as well since it also has curved blades. I'd have shown both directions if the reverse function was working (which it didn't, probably because of a dimmer switch). I'll try to get a video of an Altura on reverse when it gets back on reverse for winter.

It turns out that Hampton Bay Altura has a receiver installed. The owner let me use his remote and I was able to show all 3 speeds on both directions: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVePldPaPLM

Hampton Bay Carriage House's never impressed me as particularly fast fans. A lot of cheaper Canarm's also seem to be slow. Alturas may move slow but they put some air out though. We got one in once when I worked at Habitat. The blades must be made of balsa wood, though. Incidentally they will spin quite a bit faster on reverse since the blades are curved to push more air on forward. Honestly, I don't think they're half bad for Hampton bay's. We've had tons of these lately at Habitat (donations from Home Depot) and they actually do put out a pretty decent breeze. Certainly better than what Hunter is putting out these days!
