I just bought a Hunter Original with what looks like model number 23552. I only paid $20 and it's in perfect condition but I think it may be one of the Chinese made fans. The motor is smaller and the label on the side does not show that it is made in the US even though there is a sticker on the top with the Tennessee. It is brushed antique brass. Does anyone know anything about this model? Is it Chinese....not my favorite country.
Thanks

What you have is more than likely an American-made fan, a picture would confirm it.

American fan.
If you can see the windings, it's American.
If it's 4 blade only, it's American.
If there is no letter 'A' in the model number, it's American.
If it's Antique Brass, it's American.

If it's Antique Brass, it's American. Are we certain of this? The antique brass finish came back briefly for 2001...which was the same year production moved overseas.

I'm not certain, but I've never seen an AB imported one.

I started disassembling the fan today and noticed that it does not have the workmanship of my earlier Originals. The casting is rougher and the overall construction doesn't seem as good. Also, the motor is only rated at 1.1 Amps instead of the 2.5 of my other Originals. Does this change the idea that it's American?

If it has a 1.1 amp motor, then it's American, no doubt. They were from anywhere from 1984 to 1992. The date would be stamped on the tag of the side of the motor, on the left side. It would read "89" (for example) and it would be circled.

I will tell you this much: most hunters are made in Taiwan. Though if it doesn't say made in Taiwan, then most likely it was made in the good ol' u s of a (:
