Wonder if anyone would remember hearing about hurricane Andrew back in August of 1992 which pretty much flattened Homestead.. I found some photos of a Publix that didn't make it through that storm.. I still remember that day.. Was the same day that School was suppose to start from summer break, but was canceled due to the storm.. I was going into 8th grade.. We didn't get much of it here..

Ouff! Poor Publix store.
Of course I (later) heard about this hurricane even though I was only a year old when it occurred. Pierce Phillips mentioned about it in the past on this forum. He was living in Florida when it happened.
The worst part of the hurricane season around the Americas is always around late August when school restarts. Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana occurred on August 29, 2005.
Just yesterday and today Hurricane Sandy passed over Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti. It's currently around the Bahamas. Late October is pretty late for a big Hurricane like Sandy. I thought the Hurricane season ended around late September.

Yes, I currently have the window open and feeling the nice tropical breeze from Sandy now, as I type.. The Florida East coast is getting tropical storm winds from it..
Hurricane season technically ends in late November.. It's just August is when they really fire up and October it slows down..
I remember the aftermath of Andrew and the devastation.. It was the worst damage caused by a hurricane on record.. It was everyday news even years after.. I'm sure there is footage of stuff taken place during the storm on Youtube somewhere..
