Hi everyone, my name is Richie. I have been a member on the Tacos forums for a long time, know Pierce off there (and possibly a few others of you on here?!) To cut a long story short, I was born in South Africa, moved the UK when I was 6, then lived in South Carolina for 3 years until '89, returned to the UK and have been here ever since, although travel to back to South Africa regularly now being back in contact with my family over there! I've been mad about fans since I was very young. Have a collection of 15 desk fans and 8 ceiling fans. Thought I'd keep this appropriate and share pics of my ceiling fans here: (all are 240volt, UK purchased fans) 52" Litex Winchester 5-blader (it was AB/Mahogany, I stripped and painted it gloss white!) Hunter Breeze No.1 - 44" Bright Brass/Washed Oak - custom made light kit with Hunter Deco glass: Hunter Breeze No.2 - 40" Bright Brass/Beech - blades shortened to clear unusual roof.. Hunter Breeze No.3 - 36" White/White Oak - blades used of 36" Encon spinner. Fitted in small bedroom hence small blades! Unknown brand - it came out of a conservatory and was labelled 'Conservatory Fan'.... It was originally 42", I fitted Limed Oak blades off an old Encon Princess 5-blade which now makes it 30". The brass was in bad condition so I repainted it matt black. It has a remote control to control the lights/fan. I also have - not pictured - a 48" 3-blade Industrial fan from Wickes in chrome finish (NIB), a cheap spinner and the Encon Princess. Cheers, Richie

hey richie,i saw your posts (over there),nice to meet you,and cool fans, but i don't care for harbor breeze fans(same you got and some other ones) i love the litex and hunters and others you got..
i notice i saw the white(bottom mount spinner) motor on the shelf in the top photo, that must be encon or westinghouse "princess" ,i like it too,i had 3 of them in my collection till i gave my grandma one and my friend another one and leaves me 1 left in my collection & i used it in my kitchen till i got a 36" white/white emerson "blender" ceiling fan(with blastic blades) and i replace my "princess" fan with my "blender" fan like may of last year, and my "princess" fan is now in storge.

Hi Jeremy. Encons are pretty popular over here at the budget end, along with Fantasias (UK's answer to Casablanca in quality and range) and we get a certain amount of Hunters. My Encon Princess is a white 30" like this one shown below: Mine has vents in the motor housing but this hasn't for some reason. Blenderfans and Originals are my favourite fans by far!

Thanks for coming over, Richie! You know me here; you also know Ben C., JW (Jon W.), Andrew G., Brian H., and perhaps some others I've forgotten. This is the older forum; been here since January 2004. Adam D runs this site, he has a very cool collection (be sure to check out his galleries). Dan N is co-moderator with him, and he's a very very cool guy, and a walking fan encyclopedia (though he can come off as a snooty Wisconsonite jackass sometimes ). I've had a few accounts on here, as I've variously boycotted this forum and then come back. Any posts by organist89 or piercetheorganist are also by me. Very cool fans! I especially like your Hunter #3, with the schoolhouse globe. Welcome!

I knew I remember seeing those Liticies (sp?) somewhere... Lmao...Ben, you rock. It's "Litexes". X->cies only applies to improper nouns (nouns which would not be capitalized).

Hi Richie, I have seen a few of your others posts on the other forum but I haven't log on on the other forum because its stupid to have two separated forums. I prefer to stay only on this one. I have seen all these pictures you posted. I did not know you had Litex in UK. In UK the brands available are mostly: Fantasia(local brand), B&Q(local brand), SMC(from Hong Kong), Encon/Westinghouse(from USA), Hunter(from USA), Xplaire(local brand), Canarm(from Canada), Vortice(from Italy) and Crompton Greaves(from India) The most popular ones in the UK are: Fantasia, SMC and Westinghouse
On this forum I am the one that's know the most about ceiling fans overseas. And before you cammed I was the only one outside of the USA. But for them I' am not overseas. We also use 120 Volts in Canada.
I am so glad you cammed to this forum! Finally some overseas! I also have a Encon Princess but mine have 4 blades and is 42''.
Is that you that have all those 1980s KDK desk fans on Flickr?

The next time you're trying to tout yourself as being the supreme expert, try "came" instead of "cammed", et al. B. Canarm, Encon/Westy, Hunter, Casablanca, Emerson, etc., are all from the Orient. Like everything else, other than perhaps Crompton Greaves. I don't care where someone's headquarters are; I care where the actual fans come from.

Jean is our expert on overseas fans, but not on the English language.
Pierce, he's referring to where the fans are primarily marketed. ALL fans are made overseas these days.
Welcome, Richie! Try not to be scared away by the bickering, it's all in good fun.
And I didnt know Wisconsinites could be snooty. Fat and lazy is more the stereotype!

BTW the fan you repainted is identical to some Heritages sold here, sans the remote.
