I've never heard of Unison . . . do you know anything about it? What makes you think that's who made the fan? Thanks Dan

My grandmother has the same fan in her kitchen, with light oak blades. I've been wondering what make it is.
I'm surprised with how steep the blade pitch is. 14-16 degrees seems a bit much for a cheap spinner motor...but it does moves a surprising amount of air, and it is fairly quiet (albiet a little wobbling).
My grandmother also has a SMC Emperor hugger in her bedroom, cane blades and all. It hums, but she won't replace it, because it moves a lot of air.

The only one I've seen is the pictures in the group. As for the SMC, it shouldnt be a significantly (more) powerful fan, nor should it be noisy. You can probably repair the latter.

You can probably repair the latter. I'll try to snap a picture when I visit her next. I agree, the SMC doesn't have a *powerful* motor. What I meant is that it moves a nice amount of air, and she likes it. Although, she's never really had any K55-type fans, so she thinks that Emperor is the best fan around . The master bedroom of their vacation cottage also has an Emperor, and the other bedroom used to have an antique brass SMC (A52?) hugger. The motor burned out last year, and we had to throw it away. Oh well...the blade irons were wacky, with no specific pitch, and one was bent sideways at a 30 degree angle...it wasn't too great a fan, anyway.
