I know we had a thread somewhere deep in the archives of these forums, but not one in this specific form, so I thought I'd create another one. What ceiling fan brands did department stores sell or are selling? Here is what I can think of:

Lowe's:

Sears sold Emerson. Duh lol!
Kmart sold a LOT of SMC, rebadged or otherwise, and I think Evergo too. And CEC. And probably others I'm forgetting.
Target sold View Fan as well, relabeled as 'Target'.
Menards and Builder's Square are missing. Both did/do sell Hunter, but Dan has a good list of all the previous brands sold there from Encon to NuTone, and Matt Cody I think had a list compiled for Builder's Square from View to Forever Fan.

Home Depot sold Moss before the Hampton Bay brand was in existence.
Quite surprisingly, Walmart used to sell SMC. Someone on DT had a NIB SMC that indicated on the box it was from there.
Serving Merchandise sold King of Fans, as well.
Hechinger used to sell Crest and SMC.
Menards did/does sell Heritage. Cole had a box of a Heritage Alexis that indicated Menards.
Didn't I read somewhere Kohl's used to sell Codep?

Sears sold at lot of SMC's between the early 1980s to 2004.
Wal-Mart used to sell some SMC's indeed along with some Canarm and Landia. I guess today they are mostly into Mainstays and/or Aloha Breeze.
Réno-Dépot had many different brands over the years: Casablanca, Landia, Encon, Nadair, Air Wiz, Hunter, Canarm, Westinghouse and Catalina. The four last ones are the current ones.

Sears here hasn't sold fans since at least the 2000s with a large selection and display, however, they did sell a few Hoo Cheung (Heritage) fans in 2008 and 2009 with no display.

I've never seen Emersons sold in Walmart, but I've seen a few installed, I always wondered.

Btw the reason I didn't list menards is we don't have menards here and I wasn't around yet when builders square was open.

Canadian Tire currently sells their own brands including Home Collection, Likewise, and For Living. They also still sell Airworks (Super Electric) and Hunter fans. They used to sell a bunch of SMCs, Banvils including a mid 90's 4-lighted hugger, and Canarms. I think they started selling ceiling fans in the late 80's but I could be wrong. Home Hardware still sell Canarms. They also sell Banvils and some Hunters. They used to sell ceiling fans from their own line!! So did Consumers Distributing. Rona is selling Canarms, Hunters, Westinghouse, and Uberhaus. They sold Four Seasons Venair, and Nadair. In Ontario, the Building Box (Reno-Depot) closed down in March 2004 and became huge Ronas. I didn't know Sears sold ceiling fans in the early 1980's. I know very little about Sears Canada's earlier ceiling fans but I know they sold an SMC spinner from late 80's to the early 2000's.
