Got this off of Craigslist this evening. It's dated 1992, and came with all parts, right down to the last screw. Such beautiful fans, especially the BB models. Those scratches are nothing noticeable in person: Honestly, it looks more pleasing to the naked eye than in does in the pics. I'll get it hung on Friday, when I have time.

Looks nice! Glad you got it. I can't tell, does it have 4 or 5 blades? Also, don't you have one of these in your house?

Thanks! It's a five blade model. And no, the only Hunter installed in my house is the 48" Original.

I have two 5B Mayfairs: one in PB like you see here and the other is AB that I got NIB from a church sale in 2008.

Here it is installed. I don't really think that globe goes well with the fan. Globe of my choice: Unfortunately, the speed capacitor is faulty. Sometimes it works right, sometimes it doesn't. At first I thought it was the start capacitor. I replaced that with one at a slightly lower rating. It worked for about a minute then went back to the faulty stage. So I determined it was the speed cap. I need expertise advice to see if I can use a slightly different capacitor. I just don't want to screw something up and cause permanent damage. The cap shown came out of a '96 Passport II. On the NEW cap, can I connect the speed wires and second grey wire in the same manner as the FAULTY cap (shown)? Then remove the existing start cap and connect the new cap's red to the motor red? Looks like some electrical arcing occurred here at some point:

Nice Mayfair! Looks a lot cooler with the floral globe.

Okay, so it turns out it's not a cap issue at all. I took the cap out of my friend's old Passport, and it still malfunctions the same way it did with the old one. So it has to be bad motor coils. However, it's not the end of the world as I have a spare Hunter motor lying around.

Glad to hear you guys like the globe! Anyways, it turns out it's NOT a motor issue at all! It was a pull switch issue this whole time. I feel quite dumb for putting myself through all that effort, removing a perfectly good motor over a faulty pull switch. However the cap for the new motor needs replacing as its speed sequence goes high-low-low.
