I was over my friend's house today, and I didn't bring my camera. His living room has cathedral ceilings like mine, but he has a fan up top and one over the dining area. His dining room used to have some green/brushed nickel fan, but I think the cheaper Harbor Breeze matches the ceiling more. Master Bed, Encon, I believe: Bedroom 3, some type of Coastal Breeze knock off. Bedroom 2, a 42" Hampton Bay:

I've long wondered if these Harbor Breezes are based on plastic Emersons. Master Bed, Encon, I believe: These may be my all-time least favorite style of fan. Several companies were making these in the early 90's and Harbor Breeze continued to (the "Whitestar") up into the 2000's, I believe. Bedroom 3, some type of Coastal Breeze knock off. Crest.

The second fan is an older Harbor Breeze Whitestar. Late 1990s because of the rounded tip blades.
The third fan could be a Hampton Bay Southwind.

Crest made them for HB too.
LOVE that living room, needs better fans.
I agree with JW in HATING those things.

I went over some other friends' houses. In the first house, there's a bunch of cheap fans: HB Minuet in the dining room: Cheap walmart in the bedroom: Hugger in the master bed: My other friend's house (built by his dad) has these Emersons?

Is the Minuet an older or the second version? The second is really a Wal-Mart fan? (Main Stays or Aloha Breeze?) It does not looks too bad. It reminds me of the Encon/Westinghouse Wyndham with a different light kit. Those white fans at the bottom are recent SMC Park Avenue III. Looks actually really recent for that kind of SMC. Early 2000s? It looks the same as this one: www.flickr.com/photos/7270421@N04/1800309042/Sorry bad link

Some new Hunter. I wonder what hung there before: SMC Laguna in my friend's kitchen, kinda like Jean's but with a smaller motor, non-stencil blades, and a mushroom light kit:

Those Emersons are actually SMCs if I am not mistaken. Probably labeled Hampton Bay.
I LIKE the kitchen SMC. It has the wider, slimmer motor. These are more rare.

The Coastal Breeze Knock off is Made by Air Cool. The Switch housing is the same style use in the 1986-1994 Genoa.
The White and Polished Brass in the master bedroom it's actually made by FireBird for Litex (WhiteStar) which also was available under Kenmore in 1991.
I had the two Hampton Bay versions. One NIB (still got it) in Black with Brass and standard tip blades named The Raleigh and another in Mauve with Light Kit named The Bentley (throw it away).
The hugger Hampton Bay is a The Harbor Light.
Cheap Wal-Mart fan is an Encon but it could be a Wyndham or Marquis. Both fans shared the same housing along with the six-blade Edwardian and the five-bladed Empress. But only the first two had optional switch caps.
White Builder-type with Spotlight is a S.M.C. made for Casa Vieja.
