Today I stumbled upon the Waco Habitat ReStore. I thought it was new, but in fact it's been in existence for 7 years. Of course I made a beeline to the ceiling fan section... where piles upon piles upon piles of fans were waiting. That only meant one thing...
...ten minutes later I was on the Habitat volunteer list! I spent several hours today sorting through the fans and did some initial trashing of some of the junk (water damaged blades, rusty fans, Heritages , etc.) It will need much more work, but I made a lot of headway today. In talking with the owner, he eventually wants to make a large display at the back of the store. He also said that they had been looking for someone with some fan knowledge to work on that aisle, since they didn't know where to begin with everything spread out!
Here are a few pics of some of the more interesting fans. I'll post more as I continue work there; there are hundreds upon hundreds of blades and brackets to sort through.
I now present to you the pics:
Spinner - didn't really have a brand name on the tag; looks like a CEC/KDK hybrid. Dan, you have one of these, don't you? The fan in the background is an 1895 - perhaps I'll find a new set of blades for it when I sort through them better:
36" Evergo - I've since bent the misaligned blade back:
Old Jacksonville S-vent with Emperor blades and brackets - I wonder if these were original or replacements? Standard Old Jacksonville blades usually have "rounded points".
One of those Codeps I've been hunting down for years. This one is in bad need of a blade alignment - I attempted it while it was hanging and the brackets would not budge.
Loyal in mint condition, other than the brackets bent slightly upward for it resting on the blades like this (the motor is HEAVY).
Encon CG with the REALLY ornate brackets, as in that ad I posted a while back:
Here's a Patton, Dan (they want $30):
My first repair job - a Winco... the brackets were TRASHED - I got some off a spare set of blades lying around.
I gave the owner (and a nearby customer who also asked) a link to the site; here's hoping they visit, if not post!
