I remember as a little kid there being an Ames Department Store right up the road from my house. It was a great store, had lots of things like walmart or k-mart, but seemed to have a diverse selection. They had a pretty cool ceiling fan section, too, which I remember pretty vividly. And Jamesway was another store near the town I work in now, which had just about everything as well. Both companies, as far as I know, have gone out of business.

We had Jamesway but they closed when I was like...3 I wanna say. I don't recall what fans they had.
Ames went out of business in 2001 I think? But they sold Northman's at our local one.

We had goodness four Jamesways I know about however I only ever went into one of them. They had ceiling fans.. I want to say Lasko's but I have no way at all to back that up. They closed in 1995 when I was 3... That would explain why! They had no display just fans on the shelf. The one I remember my Mom taking me to was replaced with a Big Lots (I HATE that store). Ames we had one that I can think of. They went out in 2002 according to wikipedia. They sold Northman's which I WISH I could have gotten a few of since they were childhood fans for me, but I was 10 then and what 10 year old can buy a bunch of fans from a store liquidation sale .
