I am not an active moderator of these forums. However I got so many phone calls, emails, text messages, IMs, etc, that I had to step in. All of the threads and posts by the recent offending member have been deleted, and he and his IP have been banned.
I will make two requests:
1. When someone posts things that are CLEARLY spam or troll, PLEASE do not respond. Not only does it feed them, but more importantly it makes it harder for the moderator to determine which threads and posts are legit and which need to be deleted. PLEASE JUST LEAVE IT ALONE. SOMEONE WILL SEE IT AND ADDRESS IT.
2. Secondly, if you have an issue with the forums, please bring it to the attention of one of the active moderators, I believe JW or Cole. I read the forums once a week or less, and even then I usually only check the "10 most recent threads". I dont think Adam is around much at all. If you want to contact me to let me know what's going on, that's fine, but we have active moderators for a reason.
God bless and have a great thanksgiving.

I'm not saying much, but I for one see this every year, at this exact time. Did the flood gates open or something? Thanks Dan, it's nice to hear from you again. Cole is usually on here once or twice a week…I keep forgetting he's a mod.

All I know is that if the mods aren't on here as much, then they need to promote members who are on here like every day (like me).

I dont agree that you should be a mod but people who log in on a regular basis. If a person who posts and log in regularly were promoted to a modding position these sort of situations wouldnt go under the radar for a long period of time. This means the user could be banned much quicker and will prevent the site being flooded with ignorant comments and spam. I am not saying that I should be a mod but someone that checks this site at least everyday.

New posts by the offending member have been taken care of, and he is (hopefully) permanently banned.
For the record, I am now on here at least once daily for the most part and even more on the weekends. We get so little spam activity here that it's unnecessary to have more moderators at this time, it can be taken care of as it happens. I'm with Dan on all statements.
Thank you all for bringing this to our attention.

I'm not the spammer, I've been at work all day, and really, this site is none of my business, I will say though that an IP ban doesn't work these days so be prepared to get creative. From your post Dan it seems this forum doesn't have a bulk delete option like ours does, we can delete every post a member makes with the push of a button, a handy feature that might want to be looked at for this site

Different forum software, different features.
Personally, I believe ProBoards sucks.

Proboards was good when it came out but now it's growing more and more outdated. VB is what we run, high price but worth it

I gotta say.. our setup is not cheap. You should pool what money you can and ask Perrey if he will contribute to it, he was willing to pay for the entire setup we have now, but it wasn't going to work out in our case because we believed it would create an un-balanced environment if he paid the entire thing. However, we didn't try it, so it may be worth a shot if he's willing to help you all. I'm not volunteering him of course though.

Adam and I decided years ago to stick with ProBoards . . . it has it's flaws but it works well and is free.
The current mods are on pretty often . . . and I will say, the LEAST likely way to get named a mod is to ASK to be one. That's a red flag.
