Need to know where to find a hanging bracket--I am told this unit is a Hunter unit, but have not yet been able to find anyplace that has very many spare parts. The bracket should look similar to H-15 on this page (but a different size): www.eceilingfans.com/hanger_brackets_ceiling_fans.html It needs 3 evenly spaced attachment screw holes like H-15, but needs to be 5 3/16" diameter instead of the 6" that is shown in that picture. The unit is made to be a flush mount without a downrod (and for my application I don't want a downrod), but perhaps someone knows of a way to convert the unit to fit another attachment device... Does anyone know where I might be able to get ahold of a proper bracket or have ideas on modifying to fit another attachment? Thanks! Bean

As far as I know, all the Hunter mounting brackets of that type were a standard size of about 6". Does your fan say Hunter anywhere on it, as in on top on a sticker, on the side, on the bottom? If not we're probably looking at a different manufacturer.
For flush mounting, many companies have holes in the bottom of the canopy where you just remove a few screws on the top of the motor housing and screw the canopy on with those, and of course you remove the downrod. If you've got holes on the bottom of your canopy, I can add pics if what I said was not clear.

I talked to a Hunter tech support guy this morning, and he also mentioned a logo or something that should be present. Hence, I am doubting that it is a Hunter -- there are no identifying stickers anywhere (but stickers can come off), and I can't find any place where there is any embossment of a brand name. I will add a photo later of my unit, but if you could add a picture of what you are talking about, it would be helpful, too.

I'll see about pics, it may depend on your fan a bit as well. I've never seen a Hunter with a lack of stickers or a logo, so I'm doubting it's Hunter, especially with the odd bracket size.

Attached should be a picture of the unit. Forum newbie that I am, I can't figure out how to add a picture directly to this text.. Bean

And yet one last one of the piece that attaches to the 3-hole mounting bracket/plate.
Thank you very much for any identification or other help you can give... Bean

Your fan is an SMC, model DC-42...wait, no.. DC-52.

Yup, SMC. That's a completely different thing then. You could go to Home Depot or Lowes and get an antique brass canopy kit, it would have a new canopy, mounting bracket, and ball, but you'd need to add a downrod. Don't know how high your ceilings are, but you can make a super short downrod, and the above suggestion would work.
Or, you could just wait until we can get you a bracket. Those are fairly common fans and it shouldn't be too hard to find a spare bracket.

Thank you very much!! (Curious how you could identify it so quickly...) Now that I have make/model info, I can search a few spots, as well. Don't know how quickly I might find one, though.
So, if anyone comes across a spare bracket like this, I would like to know in case I haven't found one yet. I will check this forum regularly for any additional info.

Like I said, those are very common fans, I've had at least two identical to that one there. If you were to open up the motor housing and take off the top housing, on the motor inside you'd see a sticker that says SMC and the model # and all that. We know our stuff here. I'm on the lookout, random brackets are on the shelves all the time at my Habitat Restore so I may just find one.

While you are at it, if you come across a light kit (single or three light) for an Evergo fan, let me know, as I might have interest in that, too.
I have an opportunity to go to a somewhat local Habitat ReStore (about 30 miles away from me) this week and I will be on the lookout. Those are great stores for many things--you never can tell what you might find. My closest ones are too far away to visit often...

What kind of Evergo? Does it have a switch housing on the bottom, or is it a nut that you remove to add a light? I'll watch for that too, especially if I go down to Minneapolis as I see Evergos and parts almost every time I go.

It is an Evergo 4E-6EALW Classic Decorative (I know that one because I opened the "new" box to put the unit up--it had been kept stored ever since my dad bought it at a Ben Franklin clearance sale in the '80's!!).
Don't know for sure, but I think the kind would be where you remove the center nut in the bottom cap in order to attach the light kit, somehow threading the electrical wires through that spot, as well.
Let me know if that does not make sense... Thanks!!!
