I was thinking- can we implement a resolution limit of pictures?
I was thinking no more than 800x600 (lxw), because some of us (you know who you are) have huge pictures- and the website loads to a crawl- even at 100mbs on Ethernet high speed.
I was also thinking- how about limiting signature pictures to no more than say, 250x???

Yeeeeaaahhhh...no.
If there is going to be any form of limit, it should be 1024x768.

Most to all of my pictures are 1024 X 786; I make them that big so you can see whatever is in the picture in detail. I know what you're thinking about my signature: "Wow, Rick has 15 pictures in his signature!!! " It's actually 15 pictures flattened into one, so it really isn't that large, file size-wise.

Okay; this is 800x600 This is 1024x768: I still say, 800x600 is better for users who view this site on a netbook, mobile device, etc. You see, 1024x768 requires that the web browser load the higher resolution of the photo (unedited), and that takes longer to load it. That's why I suggested 800x600. Now, a desktop screenshot isn't going to do much…but for those of us that take color-intense photos of fans, the resolution difference makes a big difference in load times.

I can't set a limit to picture sizes etc. due to them being linked from other hosting sites, only when pictures can be uploaded to the forums, but that feature is a paid feature and I'm not going to pay to have that feature, when i can have that feature free using my own forum software

neither did i.. the pics i usually upload are either 1024 x 768, 640x480 or something in between.. the bigger the picture, the better the resolution and the more enjoyable it is
about the sigs..i don't see such huge annoying sigs that need scrolling to see the whole thing.. so there is no need to set anything for it now
