I'm not surprised those Tacomas go for that much.. Toyotas really seem to hold their value.. My uncle recently got a plow for his Tacoma.. Ironically enough,, it doesn't look like there will be any more snow this year..
I've put just under 40,000 miles on the Wrangler and no problems to report so far..

Trucks are so expensive- especially the crew cab ones that are so popular these days. I'd like a crew cab truck of some sort but I would never buy a new one and the used ones from like 2008 with 100,000 miles are still $20k.
I'd like a Dodge crew cab or Silverado crew cab if I were getting one. I like the 2007+ Silverados especially, but I don't need a vehicle that big.

One vehicle I'd love to get one day is the 2003-06 Chevy Avalanche... they just have that "Tough Truck" look, and the LM7 5.3L Vortec V8 is a great engine!

Even a stripped down 2WD Silverado regular cab in almost $30,000. If you keep your cars for a long time thats one thing but to buy and take the depreciation hit is scary unless you're making big money. But then if you are making big money more then likely you are gonna buy something that isn't a truck. Although I still would.

My dad's Tundra is 2006. And he had it for 11 years ago.

Nope. it was no different than the standard Avvy's... they DID, however, change the engine block material later in the production, so they also changed the engine code (forget what to though, but it happened around 2005 or 2006). The basic engine was made up until 2014 when it was replaced by the new EcoTec3 junk, with the material of the engine block being the only difference between the different engines. They all sounded the same and looked the same. However, they DID make an Avalanche 2500HD that had the "Big-Block" 8.1L Vortec V8 in it.

I would find it odd that the Z/71 was equipped with FlexFuel, but the regular Avvy's weren't. I think most after 2006 were equipped with FlexFuel capabilities.

I don't know that the EcoTec engines they put in the trucks are junk. Mainly its was just a renaming of the Vortec engines to make it sound more efficient competing against the Ecoboost from Ford. All the technology within it was in the Vortecs from the 2007 on with the new line of SUVS and Silverado/Sierra.

My uncle had a 2014 Silverado until recently and it is a totally different engine than the Vortec... sounds different, looks different, and gets better MPG (which is the only good part about them)... I also got to know what it's like to live with one when we rented a 2016 Suburban for a week this past summer. The only remaining Vortecs GM still makes are the 4.8L and 6.0L V8's... they'll probably soon be switching to the 6.2L EcoTec3 engine in the big trucks and if it weren't for the big RWD vans they still make (Chevy's Express and GMC's Savana), they wouldn't be making the Vortec engines.

Wrong. The GM Ecotec3s are just renamed Vortecs, they are known as Gen V small blocks. Slight differences but all in all the same engine family as the Gen III and IV.

They're totally reworked though. Not that same awesome startup sound and much quieter than the old Vortecs.
