so could someone help me decipher. Looks like VIM QPC-MEB8 There is a big 8 in the box in the middle of the top. To the right of that is "MC SH[11]" uF - U is below that. Below the "8" is "250 VAC @70 C", then below that is "220 VAC @85 C". On the yellow wire sizde looks like there is 9 with an arrow through it. On the orange wire side it says "0.5 - 1.0" Wish I could take a picture of the top, but the camera is just not that good. I'm trying to find you a replacement. VIM does crappy capacitors so any one with the same values will work fine. This is a very specific capacitor which is not easy to find.

I appreciate you looking for a replacement. Seems like these VIM capacitors are mostly plastic molded around the capacitor. If there was a way to decode what I have could I use a different type that is not "molded"? All the links that people have posted for capacitors are pretty much bare bones type. Maybe one of those will work??

Capacitors are not longer made using Polychrlorinated Biphenyl therefore, the need for the aluminum shield is no longer necessary. They are now made using different components and safer chemicals and on plastic which limits their shelf life. What you need is a capacitor with the same values as the one your fan had.

So I found some information on the side of the motor saying I need an 8MFD capacitor 250Volt AC.
Where is the best place to get these?

Found an 8MFD/250VAC capacitor at Arrowhead Electric Company. A little pricey but if it gets the fan working it will be worth it.

The fan is fixed! The thermal fuse was bad. Went to Radioshack and got 128 deg C unit and it works great. Took me a while to solder in place. Do I need to put special tape back around it or can I leave it exposed? Any problem with it touching the windings?
