Went to pick this one that was on Kijiji on Tuesday for 20$(instead of 25) all complete all the way with the double claw hook, light kit and decorative pull chain on Tuesday. It was not too far from me so why not and anyway I had never seen this awesome Moss model here and its in my favorite finish. Its my second 1980s top mount and 3rd made in Hong Kong fan. It weight at least 15lbs. It does not says Moss anywhere on it but it does says WF Series. It was horribly tarnish but miraculously Silvo metal polish work really well on this particular fan. Usually it does not work that good. Since the motor works really good(constant deep hum and soundless bearings) its worth refinish the blades. The other side of the blades have been refinish in a horrible way and I'm pretty sure that's what cause the weird sound coming from the blades when its on med and high. I don't know what substance is it but its beige, textured and look a little bit like cork. I was surprise to find out that its a fan that work on pitch. I had never seen such deeply pitched stamped steel brackets....So its a pretty slow turner but pretty noticeable draft on low. About 55/100/155 Rpm's. Totally the opposite of my 4 Seasons 48'' that flies. Moss's 52'' high speed is 4 Seasons's 48'' medium. For those who are interested: Just like most of other fans with this style of long and chunky rounded switch housing and flat and wide Hong Kong made motor, the capacitor does says KANDO on it.

Nice Moss! I've actually never seen one of these things in person before, but I've heard good things about them. I can't wait for the video so I can see the speeds! Really cool find there, Jean. ;D

I have the exact same fan in AB.
The one like you have, Jean, is one I always used to see on display at a now defunct store called Harts. It was PB but had a globe light kit and said fan was juxtaposed with a Moss Emperor along with a 5B Heirloom.
Never knew Mosses made their way to Canada. Interesting.

Sounds just like mine, doesn't say Moss anywhere, only WF Series. So it does or doesn't have a reverse switch?
I may have to try that polish, mine is tarnished a bit as well.
EXACTLY like mine, the hum and the silent bearings and all.
Yes, they do work on pitch, slower speeds all the way through and the brackets are pitched well.
Really, I've never checked my cap. to see if it says KANDO, perhaps I will now just to check.
Seems like Moss made it practically worldwide at some point or other, I know we've seen them in many different places all over the world.

We still have them around here but they don't sell ceiling fans. Its a dept store similar to Zellers and Wal-Mart but a little smaller. Well c'mon it says World Famous on their box so they had to be sold in much more than just the States. I already saw various Tropical Breezes and a Caribbean Breeze I just never saw the WF Series before.

Unfortunately its made just like the ones in the US so it does have the cheapy modern switch. Ohh nooo it does not sounds like yours. The hum on the one I found is very deep and constant. Probably the deepest I ever heard but its a constant: hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not hum hum hum hum like yours seems to have. Apparently those are know for having humming issues? Well it seems I got lucky cause it does not have an annoying hum. Mine goes a lot slower than yours. I hope its not a problem and that's how it supposed to run cause its at least 50Rpm slower on high than yours. Well at least it look so nice seeing it spinning only about 55Rpm on low and you get a noticable draft. I saw a Caribbean Breeze in person in a grocery store in N'Djamena, Tchad (48'') and another one in Limbé, Cameroon(56''). I also saw two for sale on Italy Ebay about a year ago. Overseas its the opposite than North America. The larger (48'' and 56'') ones a more common while in North America we pretty much only see them in 36''.

Nice fan. You should try Brasso, thats pretty good at polishing brass. I already use Silvo all over it and it removed almost all the big dark brown tarnished spots on it. The brass really did NOT looked that nice when I got it.

I'm glad you were able to fix this one but - don't most fans have a lacquer over the brass that will render useless any attempts to polish it?

I've been told never to use Brasso, apparently it can ruin the finish. The furthest I usually go is polishing with a soft cloth, sometimes with a little Simple Green on it to take grease off.

Cool fan; there is one of those in antique brass and stencil blades in my local car quest that runs nonstop all day and night. (it is dirty, noisy, worn, wobbly, and never cleaned )

I refinish the cane side of the blades that had a really weird finish on them. The previous owner refinished them. I really don't know what is that rough and sandy substance. Anyone? Before: After sanding and refinishing: I sand all of that ugly textured stuff off and after I put six layers of glossy varnish on the wood part around the cane. On the cane I left it with the weird finish because on the cane it looks OK and anyway I could not have sand the cane, it would have destroy it. The point of cane blades is that the cane must be a different tone than the rest of the blades and that's what it is now. Before sanding the blades I noticed it was making a weird sound on medium and high and the sound was clearly coming from the blades. I'm pretty sure it was that stuff that was causing the sound. Now it does not do it anymore. You can now see and hear it in ACTION: I moved it in another corner of the room so now I can run it on medium and high without the blades touching the furnace pipes.
