I wish this fan was made with the transparent blades, but the blades this one has are still good. They're flexible too.

Okay..so I took the fan apart..cleaned the front grille and the blades (the inner hub was covered in grease and dirt..a little Head and Shoulders- yes you read that right- took care of that junk easily...I've used Dawn before on greasy fans..this stuff works faster apparently).. Here's some pics and a video on it: Bottom plate with all the freakin' screws I have taken out..yikes The motor, partially detached. I didn't want to take the wiring out..I take it this is a C-type? Shiny and squeaky clean blades-striking sapphire blue color : Bottom of fan: And those screws are a pain..the ones that hold the motor to the back grille. Socket wrenches..mini breaker bar and a flat blade FTW. Whew! So here's a little video of the motor while out. There's a question at the end.

Never again will I take a motor apart without first learning something about a particular part.
Okay-what are your thoughts?

have u oiled it? I pulled it apart this morning. I'm letting the zoom spout oil settle in. They're permanent-lubed bearings on a C-type motor.

I like it. I have one similar that's all beige with amber blades (some almost clear spots as well, it's hard to explain) that are semitransparent. They're good little fans considering the size.

Yesh they are good fans. I ran it for an hour- 30 minutes on high, 30 minutes on low- and have figured that if pointed down, the front bearing (which is screwed up a little) starts to make a grinding sound. If pointed up or straight out, everything is quiet. The motor does vibrate however and I think the fan has been through hell..my Uncle probably abused it before he gave it to me. I mean, it doesn't have any of the original stickers on it, plus it sounded like crap before I took it apart.
Speaking of the front bearing- it's mostly responsible for the reduced spin-down time of the blades. I've tried correcting that with little success, but that front bearing has to go.
