Just wondering how many fans exist with six full-sized blades (excluding Fasco mount)? I'm referring to blades that are at least 5 3/4 to 6 inches wide and mount with Delta- or Zephyr-sized brackets. Obviously with this criteria, Homesteads don't count.
To my knowledge, I've seen FIVE: * My old 50" Tyeb, sold to (I think) Pierce * Dan's Design House (can be installed with 4, 5, or 6 blades) * A 52" 3-speed model in my nextdoor neighbor's house on my old street... looked like a Chadwick Miller - GE vents and I think either a bell or Moss canopy * A 52" variable speed, which was stuck from being hung outside and had only four of its blades intact (it has since replaced with one of those black-and-white SMCs.) * A 1992 Encon model with brackets similar to the ornate Moss. Not sure about the motor quality but the blades were pretty wide.
Not sure about the JC Penneys from around 1992 that had the Broan blade tips and the weird brackets. The ones sold by Ward, Sears, etc. with the pretzel brackets around this time definitely did NOT have full-width blades; the 6-blade Litexes sold by Lowe's and WallyWorld don't either.

Good thread.
1. Design House 2. Your Tyeb 3. Universal 6 blade Hugger (NOT my Carribean hugger that one has smaller blades) 4. The 6 blade flywheel fan I sold to Perrey, it looks like the JCPenneys with the ornate brackets, but has a flywheel 5. SOME of the JCPenney 6 blades. The ornate brackets, the huggers, the one that looks like an Encon Monarch. NOT the ones that look like the Harbor Breeze Lakesides 6. The 1992 Encon you mention-- I have a picture somewhere. 7. Concord makes/made a transistional looking 6 blade fan, with badge brackets and a marble finish. There was a green one on eBay a while back
That's all I can think of at the moment.
So I will make a few generalizations:
6 blade fans with full size blades were made by imported companies trying to copy American 6 blade designs. They tended to run slower, because that is an awful lot of blade surface area for any motor. Perhaps it was more "we need to have a 6 blade fan to be competative, just slap 6 regular blades on that motor" without thinking it through.
I have never seen a 6 blade variable speed like you mention, that would be cool.

The Craftmade Cameo, one of the ones I posted in the other thread and which is a newer model, is "full-sized." I think it's 60".

Forgot about that one! Did they have more than one 6 blade model?

From what I noticed that is the only current "full-sized" ceiling fan that Craftmade currently makes. I was in Lowes today and checked out their ceiling fans and happened to notice this one too, the Harbor Breeze Lakeside II, it's 52": images.lowes.com/product/080629/080629172555.jpgIt has the "lattice" vents that I used to see on similar style 6-blade fans that JC Penny used to sell in the early 90s. I've also seen 5-blade fans with that vent style before too. Our backdoor neighbors used to have one, they moved out a year or two ago and I don't know if the fan's still there or not.
