Today's ceiling fan selection in ordinary home centers are so boring, especially at Home Depot. It's just white, brushed nickel and bronze. It's been a while since I have seen displays models on long extension poles. It reminds me of displays in the 1990's. Same here in the states, there's only one brass fan left at the Home Depot, being the Landmark III or whatever version there is now. Last time I was at Lowes, there were no brass fans at all.

Thanks for posting these display pictures David! Rona has a lot of cool-looking fans, however they simply don't perform. Oh yeah, did I mention that their prices suck too? The Canarm Catalyst VI on a long downrod certainly isn't an everyday sight! Home Depot Canada has been discontinuing some of their cooler models in the last little while. 2013 saw some major change, as the Windward II and Redington IV were both taken off the shelves. I'm surprised you local store still has the Antigua, the San Marino (major childhood fan by the way) and the Carriage House II in golden bronze. All three of these models haven't been sold here in about a year. The Pilot is indeed an awesome fan, and once you see a Sidewinder in person, it'll grown on you The Caswyk is another nice one, and so is the Versailles. Unfortunately, they're still selling a lot Hunter garbage and the Hampton Bay Cobram LED (horrible fan by the way). At least there are a few decent quality models left.

Hey, here in California it is MUCH WORSE, I mean all you see when you are walking around are predominantly crappy harbor breeze and hunters, and as for Home Depot, there pretty much aren't any quality fans here except for the carriage house, the glendale, and the sidewinder, no joke. No pilot, caswyck, none of that!

No pilot, caswyck, none of that! That's really surprising to me, given California's location and climate I figured they would have decent fans like Texas and Florida. California has mostly dry climates and in some cases like San Francisco even cool mediterranean climate which are not the best climats to want a lot of fans. Fans are more effective in heat that is humide like on the east coast or gulf area (south central). On the other hand many parts of California does not get very cold in the winter at the point of want to use fans to circulate the warm air in the winter so all the worst combinations for a fan friendly climate. Humid heat has always been know for being more uncomfortable and sticky (humidex) than dry heat. California has some very hot places in the southeast but they are not very habitated and even if it can get very hot, it's dry hot which is a lot more supportable. Tropical, subtropical and temperate continental humid climates are the best ones for a lot of fans. Think of places where the vegetation is very green and lush. The whole North American east coast has perfect climate for fans.

Thanks for the info Jean--for some reason I thought California was more tropical.

Max, you're right. I will never buy a fan at Rona or canadian tire. It's too much for what it is. it is like, 45 to 55$ I really like the "Xavier". It was less than 30$ when I was a kid, same thing at canadian tire, the price of the fans duplicate in the last few years.
I realised that the Hampton bay industrial is not avaiable in home depot. as seen on their website, none of the store in the province as one. The san marino is still avaiable,

the price of the fans duplicate in the last few years. Interesting considering the quality of them has halved

13th, 2004 SMC Scandinavian, The other side of the blades is a darker shade of wood, but was damaged by tape. Everything was included with the fan, even the light bulb This fan is still sold at canadian tire, for 180$ We sold it for 30$ in less than 10 minutes! 14th, 2009 Canarm Twister / Home collection Lincoln This one was the Home collection's version Other side of the blades is white, but I'm not that much into all white fans. 15th, 1989 Nadair, "Spirit of saturn" This fan is actually 48", due to the small brackets. I had in stock a light kit for it. The fan will sell faster with a light. Some of you might say it's out of proportion, but in real it wasn't that bad *Note that the light covers are from the next fan. How I got it, 16th, late 80's Banvil. The model is called the Monarch or the Imperial, I don't remember. Fan came with the light covers that I used on the Nadair, but the center cover was missing and didn't had a matching one So I had to use these ones. They are from A hunter Augusta I got last summer. Center one was in my storage. I wanted to put the blades on the other side, but they had paint spots on them. 17th, 1992 Decorator's choice. From my front neighbor's house. They sold the house, and the new owners repainted the entire house and they brought to the store this fan It was in their dinning room.

All very nice fans.
It's good to see again a pull chain SMC Scandinave.
I don't find the Nadair out of proportion at all, I actually prefer the with theses brackets. I wished the brackets were brass too though. I would have though the size was 127 cm and not 120. They don't look that small. Does it work well?
The Banvil looks good.

Jean, out of proportions with the light kit ! One of the blades was higher than the others. I didn't wanted to touch it, in case I'd break it..

That SMC Scandinavian is pretty expensive new, does it actually have a good quality motor?
I like the Canarm Twister, agreed on the blade choice, I'm not big on all white fans myself. Do these come in polished brass?
Interesting choice of light kit for the Saturn copy.. While I like the light kit itself, I think its a little too traditional styled for that fan.. in this instance I'd say my preference goes to without the light. Its a little large for the fan, but not to the point where it looks bad. I didn't notice it until I read your comment to Jean.
That Banvil is GORGEOUS!!!!!!! If only it had tulip light shades it would be perfect! If it didn't sell yet, can you email it to me? I'd love to have it in my collection.

The new version of the scandinavian is a cheap fan, but with a remote. It is now made by canarm if I'm right.
Canarm twister is avaiable since the beginning in white, and from a few years in brushed pewter.
For the nadair's light kit. I might try to find other light shades, but i'm sure the fan will be sold in a few days.
for the Banvil, I am not selling any fans here. sorry for that.
