The fact that the Promo is 36" probably makes some difference, as the Grayton is 42" and probably has the same size or even smaller motor than the Promo, kind of like you said already I guess. I wouldn't doubt it being one of the best, lightweight parts on a powerful motor makes for major air movement. I really like the look of these in PB, so sporty. Yeah the fact that its 36'' is really what makes it spins so fast. I'm sure the motor could take 42'' blade span. Also because its older or must have a bigger motor like most of older fans have comparer to the new ones. Also I think the blades on those older Promos have wider blades than the late 1990s Graytons. Well you know: older = better, chunkier, bigger, wider etc. What do you mean by its sporty because its PB? ;D

I just mean it looks nice in PB, and in my opinion it's more flashy than a white Grayton would be, so I called it sporty.

For those who saw my birthday gift thread I also got 3 NOS genuine SMC Oreo's like pulls and a SMC Promo box at Entraide Mercier for my Promo. David said that the pulls were still wrapped in little plastic bags so that's why the brass on them is not tarnish and the plastic is still chocolate brown and not dark brown like real Oreo's cookies yet. David told me that they were from a 1996 SMC hugger that got sold. I love the fact that they are so long. I don't need to put extenders on them. The SMC Oreo's cookies like pulls are my childhood pulls along yellow tassels and I finally got a set a them. Thanks David! Here's the SMC Promo box in good condition with the original styrofoam thing in it. In case I want to move my Promo one day its gonna be great. Notice the picture on the box is exactly what I got.

For National Ceiling Fan Day decided to revisit this 1991 SMC Promo Deluxe I originally acquired in March 2010. It's already been a little bit more than 10 years since I had it and it has been installed in this precis location since then. Enjoy!

This time around I showed the box, the light pull chain has been replaced and I have actual SMC Oreo style pulls for it.
