What I think Jean is saying is that there's a minimal crawl space above those wooden beams. My uncle lived in a house built in the fifties that had the floorboards directly visible in the basement. Made it a b**** to keep warm. But I don't see what harm and so bad that it could cause. What could happened? We have many layers above the boards. Its not a log cabin. If you mount it on a board that happens to have a few weak spots, it will give way. Though that could be a myth. It's something I read on the net.

So here it is, the Nadair 36'' late 80s spinner. The blades are ready. I repainted the side of the blades and with some nail polish remover I been able to remove the stains of ugly tan paint on the stencil side. I even touch up the stencil at some places were it was faded but a gold marker. Next time I'm gonna see Philippe I'm gonna ask him for the 3rd walnut wood drop pull chain so I could have the 3 matching ones as it cammed only with 2 pulls per fan. I'm probably give him my white tassel that I'm not too crazy about if he wants as part of a trade of pull chains so I could have all the 3 matching walnut ones. I would like to keep this brown tassels though as brown tassels are hard to find, it cammed with the light kit of my Montego. Notice I put longer pull chains that I had to cut so my pulls are not too terribly long but long enough to go under the globe because when you have a light on your fan it makes the pulls look shorter. While I was finishing the blades I put on it the set of blades from my blue spinner which are the same shape, size and thickness except they don't have stencil and it made the fan run really quiet but when I put the original stencil blades back it turn out it made the fan much noisier with theses. The light kit really does not help. As I already said light kits on ceiling fans just causes more trouble to your fans. On this one it makes some vibrations sounds so I had to insulate the globe and fitter with electrical tape. Like everything on this fan is now insulated to get a tolerable humming. The plain blades made it so much quieter but I really want to uses the original stencil blades. C'mon they have STENCIL which I LOVE! Notice the beautiful warm yellowish light coming out of this mushroom globe! Yeah you saw right, that's a genuine Sylvania soft white 40W INCANDESCENT bulb in there! Just like peoples were using in this fan back in the late 80s when the fan was first purchased. Look at it enough cause theses a going to get harder and harder to see as to many peoples get fooled by the twist. I don't only like vintage fans but also the real classic vintage way to have artificial light. INCANDESCENT! Just like everybody were using all this time; 1878-2002. ;D

That looks like that small room of Jean's house where he's installed millions of other small fans. But it doesn't mean it can't be put in a bathroom, though I don't know why anyone would do that.

Nope its not in a bathroom, I don't think I would ever put a ceiling fan in a bathroom I think its silly. That's the same little room where all my 3 other 36'' spinners went. It used to be an office but now its more like a storage/utility room. Its the smallest bedroom of the house. Its downstairs.
If the electrical box was more centered in the room I could fit a 42'' fan in there no problem but its really not in the center so I can't put anything larger than 36''. But at least the ceiling is 8.5ft so a downrod fan is not a problem at all.
Yes this one is staying there.

If you've got a collection, why not put a fan in the bathroom? It's better to put a fan in a box than in the bathroom? If I was allowed to I'd put a fan in my bathroom in a heartbeat. ;D

I guess you have a point. But my alaska would just almost fit in my bathroom and there no electical box there. Plus the steam from the shower might damage the wood blades.
