What do you guys think here? Think a brushed nickel or white spotlight kit would look good on this fan? (The blades have been flipped..the flip side (opposite of what you see) is black..so imagine the fan is all black now.) I ask because I want to lower light levels in the room somewhat so I can use the fan light at night without distibuting too much light pollution onto the window- my weather camera is very sensitive to it.

I'd say to get a black spotlight, if you need spotlights. White would be really bad, and brushed nickel would be okay...

The canopy is white, thought it wouldn't be that bad, but I see where you're coming from. I haven't been lucky to find a black spotlight kit..especially in matte black. I guess I could paint one.

I'd get a black spotlight kit, Chris. With a spotlight, you could aim the light right where you want it, and then it would look dimmer in your room.

Know where I can get a black spotlight kit, so I don't have to buy matte black spray paint? Lowe's has only white, nickel and polished brass and on occasion antique brass. They never ever have black of anything except the ceiling fans and some light fixtures (not light kit). Home Depot and other smaller hardware stores here don't have much either, Home Depot though surprises me...they DON'T have light kits at any of my nearest stores, and haven't for awhile.

That's weird, I've seen tons of light kits at Home Depots before...

There were a bunch of light kits on clearance at my Home Depot a while back, I got a few. Maybe they don't have them either, I haven't been in to check lately.
I may be able to find a black light kit for you, but I wouldn't count on it. Menards occasionally gets something of the sort in.

I have a Mom and Pop fan shop here, I went in there and bought a new spinner motor for a rental prop fan. I didn't think to look for light kits there, but they had a display of them everywhere in a corner. I'll look around. If you do find me one, pm me! ;D

I just got this idea, while staring up at the fan, ironically: would matte black spray paint stick to those glass globes?

Personally, I think the entire combination needs to be taken out back and shot.

Personally, I think the entire combination needs to be taken out back and shot. Hahaha! I agree. But I still haven't found the missing hardware for my Barcelona-Tatung spinner. Plus, this current setup is wired perfectly: light switch controls light only. The Barcelona-Tatung fan would've been wired to where the wall-switch controls both fan and light, and I don't like that idea. But I'll have to see if I can rewire the spinner.

The spinner would be very easy to rewire, just shove a blue (or whatever) line down the shaft. Also, converting that thing to ball/socket only requires a few bucks at Home Depot.
