These were recalled several years ago. It's sad that they caught on fire and caused problems, but the people obviously didn't hear or ignored the recall. The news didn't mention that.

My friend still has one of those. It's only the flower blade that made them crappy. I have a video of it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr2nf28QvbI&feature=youtube_gdataThe motor is decent, it's just the blade they used. Those do a fine job with plastic toastmaster blade The fuse plug is just an advertising technique, though the CPSC made a recall as well. So the two reasons why the fan is crappy: 1) flower blade propeller, barely any pitch 2) recalled model. Why the fan is ok in other ways 1) motor is decent enough to use a toastmaster blade on it 2) no crappy fuse plug like on newer models I'm referring to the recalled models that were manufactured from 1999-2004

what does the fuse plug do? just wondering? It cuts electricity to the motor when it gets overheated. It's not that helpful because the purpose of a thermal fuse is to be on or as close as possible to the windings detecting the heat levels and cut it in off when the windings have reach the fuse temperature., Using one on the plug doesn't do much to prevent a overheat related fire. I explained this already on another thread.

so when it overheats does that mean the fan is pretty much toast lol also as long as the fan is well lubied the fan should not overheat? right
