What a shame. It would have been nice to save those old fluorescent lights/round vents....

I still have the two left from the last Publix in my county that was torn down and rebuilt.. As far as i know there is only one Publix left that still has those Fluorescent fixtures and thats in South Miami Beach. Me and Micheal will go and take pictures sometime.. As far as those big vents, i don't think there is one left that has those.. There could be a miracle that the publix could be standing, but that was about 4 months ago, and the construction fence was already put up

I agree, its the last one known standing. I dont see it leaving anytime soon either cause if you look around most of the buildings in south beach date back to that time and all look simmilar, so it maches with all the other historic buildings. I call it modern-retro

Whoa that's a really COOL Art Deco 1930s-1940s style building and pretty fancy for a grocery store.
They CAN'T destroy this one its just too cool and its in good condition.
Yeah I heard that South Beach Miami have a lot of cool Art Deco 1930s-1940s buildings painted in white and turquoise, blue and green colors. Really COOL!
The shape of the front reminds me of a theater. Beautiful vegetation around it too.

Hey Mike it's been a long time.. Yes, It's only 7 blocks from me on my same street.. I was expecting them to put those big neon PUBLIX letters on the side like they did with a newer replica Publix in Orlando.
O btw. I want to check out an old high school in Boynton Beach. It's a real small school compared to today's schools. It's a real old school, looks to be from the 30s, i bet it has those florescents with the shades it in there.. We better go check it out before it's too late, I drove past it yesturday, than i saw the local news that they plan on making the building usable again, which means they will probably gut it and take out all the old electrical stuff

Hum, we may need to check that out, It's closing because of the new one being built, I always thought it being on the island of Palm Beach that it was modernized long time ago, thats where all the rich people live, and million dollar mansions are. It not being modernized would surprise the hell out of me. If it dates back to the 70's, it would have those light fixtures, if it was modernized it probably doesn't. I've been in that one, but it was so long ago, I don't remember. I was a child and it was in the 80s...
