i use to had one(just like it,same look, same color) till the middle 90s,but mine was bigger than this one pictured,i think dad threw it out cause it broke(he used it last in garage),sorry i DO NOT have a pic of it with me now,but i do think i have at least 1 pic of me and my cousin(with that same fan i'm talking about in background) at my parent's house, which i choose that one to post it which it beats no pic at all) but i have to scan it before i post it...
we bought it at wal mart like sometimes in the early 1980s.

I do like a lot these 80s desk fans with chrome grill, big center and transparent blades.
We use to have one pretty similar to this one but in 16''. It had the SAME kinds of gray square speeds buttons. Also chrome grill and big chrome center but I don't remember the brand. The blades we more rounded and less pointed.(the 12'' ones usually have pointed blades and the 16'' ones usually have more rounded blades) the blades were transparent plastic but I don't remember if they were blue or gray. Sadly it broke in 1997 and my mom bought a white/gray Super Electric 16'' with big rounded blades at Canadiantire in 1997 to replace it. We still have this one of course.
These kind of fans usually cammed in 3 colors: Blue, Gray and some kind of orange/brown/amber. My favorites ones are the 12'' blue ones. They are always with chrome grill and plastic ivory bases.

I used to have a fan like this with four clear blue blades. I sold it on eBay.

I have a 9" Lasko one with gray blades. From the 90s
Someone on another site studied ads for them and found out when the blade colors were each introduced and continued.
I have a Sears catalog from 1992 with them and some Duracraft ones.

Gee, I really need to get me a Galaxy table fan. Maybe one of those 12 inchers with blue blades...

I have a brown Galaxy as well, sans handle, or that stylish font on the base.

I love those 9" Galaxies, I've only seen two before, one at Habitat that they used at the counter, and my friend used to have one, but a blade broke off and they threw it out.

The only story I could share with you all is that I have use three of them separately in a section of my house where no work has been done (no Ceiling fans yet) and each of them started really strong, delivering an excellent airflow. But not anymore.
I have left each of them on for almost 30-days straight with only turning them off 3-times each for cleaning, and either their capacitors are crap or their {Sanyo} windings are not built to be on service for that period of time. Is not an oil issue, because each of them spin freely.
Each one started strong but within time, each of them had lost 50% of their power. Their low speed use to give a nice gentle breeze, not anymore., nowadays low speed is barely moving. Their highest is what the medium use to be.
I have left Toshibas, Panasonic, Kuo Horng and other Taiwanese fans on for the same period of time and none of them have lost their air flow strength.
