Ok, it's just that I never felt an air movement from socket fan. That literally has nothing to do with what I posted. I mean, if I felt an airflow, I would know how much air it moves, and that can sort of tell me how much torque it has.

My brain hurts after reading Musto's posts.. Are you kidding? This is comedy gold!I mean, if I felt an airflow, I would know how much air it moves, and that can sort of tell me how much torque it has. I didn't know airflow was singular..I mean if the threads are t long enough, light bulb would touch the base before light bulb starts being screwed in. Just like you f pester people! Are you familiar with the word "the"?

Derailing threads by talking about him are just as bad as his own posts.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIz5NUFq-7EFound more fans that may fall if they run on reverse. 3 of them have 2 downrods, and a cylinder coupler that holds 2 downrods seem to just screw in with no set screw. The first fan in video seems to have set screw on downrod-to-motor coupler cross threaded and therefore wouldn't hold downrod at all. Hunter does put red loctite on downrod-to-motor coupler, and this is one good example why. Manager said these fans run on reverse in winter, and I told him that it's not safe to leave them on reverse for long time. These fans always run on low anyways.

Leave it alone. It's been fine for years. Until a month ago or less when it nearly fell but wires caught it from falling to ground. And yes, it was still on downdraft when I saw it, unless someone ran it on reverse for a while then someone put it back to downdraft after it nearly fell and wires caught it, which is unlikely seeing how it would not be noticed if it was put in reverse. It had some wobble which could be loosening the screws and cause it to nearly fall. And yes, I did speak to manager, and employees carefully turned off the fan and they said they would try to fix it up.

I'll never forget the time years ago when I put my bedroom fan on high reverse and it unscrewed itself and fell onto my bed.

I'll never forget the time years ago when I put my bedroom fan on high reverse and it unscrewed itself and fell onto my bed. Just like I'll never forget about the time Hunter Original in a store fell down while running on reverse. I was told it was sent back to fan company, but if I worked for the company and found out it was using downrod-to-downrod coupler with NO set screws or anything to keep it from unscrewing, it would void the warranty. But that's what really got me scared of some fans on reverse.

Here's a picture taken from outside, of a downrod where Hunter Infiniti used to be. Last week, Hunter Infiniti was there running on high reverse. Set screw must not had been tight enough.
