Here is a whole subject on those old classic vintage commercial fluorescent light fixtures, that are becoming extinct.
There is now a gallery that will eventually have pictures..Anyone have any? Thats where they will go. I won't be collecting light fixtures, unless I find a neat small one. Pictures mostly...

Yay! New forum!!! I don't know much about light fixtures though. These are the ones at my old school (which is closing down) and shown in there are the weird fans with the round blades. They wobbled horribly due to poor installation.  |

No, the school was built in the 1890s and there's not much room to put anything behind the walls or ceiling.

same with my old schools too. those big window ac units would always be so loud, and make the room smell stale too, oddly enough though i kinda liked it.

Oh, you mean the ones that are portable and fit in a window. I thought you meant the central air conditioning. Like I said before, the school is old and so are the windows. The windows are single pane, braced with some I think some old metal strips. I don't think it would hold an A/C unit. It's very hot in the summer there (especially the south-facing rooms) and cold in the winter. The fans didn't help.

The window it's self wouldn't be able to hold them, they could take the windows out and mount them to a big sheet of plywood....Yes those units were kinda loud. The air coming out was very loud. I've seen them use in many ways, in the portables they use to mount them high enough, to were they could run ducts from them though the drop ceiling and use them as central units.......

yeah i remember seeing that being done too. lol its been so long since ive been in a portable, i remember the floors would have that hollow sound too when you walked on them.

yeah, my 9th and 10 grade years of high school was the last time i was in one. that was like 4 years ago.
