David Weis was a name of a now defunct store chain very similar to Service Merchandise...David Weis closed their doors in the early 1990s. There was one in the Pittsburgh area my dad took me to a lot. It was in the Parkway Center Mall, which is now a dying mall, I digress. Anyways, David Weis did sell ceiling fans, and I think Emerson...I'm not 100% sure. They had some generic huggers there as I recall. There may have even been some Fascoes there too. All I remember is that I was in heaven everytime I visited the fan section. I remember it was circa Christmas of 1990 when they had their going out of business sale..."EVERYTHING MUST GO" is what I saw everywhere. It kinda ruined Christmas for me at age 8 . I found very little info on the net regarding David Weis stores...If anyone has any info to elaborate, please post it.

I've never heard of them . . . from what little I can find on the net, it appears they were bought out by the same company that owns JCPenney and CVS. I did find this really cool site: www.deadmalls.com

Wow, Dan, that's the site I found info on the Parkway Center Mall in Pittsburgh.
It seems as though most of its stores are now defunct. However, they still do have K-Mart, and at one time, that K-Mart had 2 fan sections at once: one that was connected and another that wasn't. I remember seeing CEC Georgians and View spinners when I would go there, and of course the famous turtle fans.
In the food court, they had a cookie vendor with a spinner that looked very much like a Toastmaster.

I remember a big fan display of early Encons in Shopko . . .
for some reason I cant remember any fan displays at KMart before they switched to SMC/Alaska.
There are a lot of David Weis catalogs on eBay, maybe some of them have fans. You should ask the sellers.
