Would anyone happen to know where i can get any speed controls?? not really for any specific type of fan but i was just wondering how possible it would be to get one, because i may be getting a fan that needs one. if not could i just use a standard fan dimmer switch and if so will it make the motor hum? but if anyone does have any speed controls they dont want i would be interested on what kind you have and what they look like. ALSO one more question, would it be ok to use lets say a speed control from a golden fan on an evergo? or any other two different types of companies?

Don't use a dimmer switch made for lighting. You shouldn't have any problem with a fan variable control or preset switch. A Hunter Original needs a special wall control in most cases.

yea i know its not good to use dimmer switches made for lighting, i wont be using them on any originals either. i saw ones at home depot made for fans though, one of them had preset speeds (off, high, med, low and off again) and theres another kind thats just like a light dimmer switch only made for fans instead. they are both made by hampton bay. if i cant find any real speed controls for the old fans then i might just use the ones from home depot. i noticed the ones that have the preset speeds dont make the fans hum, but the other kind of switch does.

I have one of the Hampton Bay 3 speed preset ones and it works great. Remember if your fan has a pull chain to set it to high with any wall controls.

I see them on eBay maybe ocne every couple months. They always end with no bids. Keep looking, they'll turn up eventually. Or maybe I'll turn up my spares.

Ceiling fan control, fan control, speed control, motor control . . . I usually turn them up under regular ceiling fan searches

ok. its a shame that they end up with no bids, and those people probably end up throwing them out too.
