A couple weeks ago in my neck of the woods, the temps were hitting the 90 degree range. Unfortunately, for the past 3 days, it did not even reach 70 degrees, and cold and rainy weather is very depressing. I much prefer the heat so I can rev my fans up!

My friend just lost her 80 year victorain home last night. A/C window unit cought on fire. There is nothing left of the house but the front steps. Very sad

Gosh you're really unable to gives your temperatures in Celsius? Like really?? Your the only place still doing that. My mom told me that she use to use Fahrenheit but that was when she was young back in the 1960s-1970s. I don't know what is 100F exactly but I know its HOT. Its not surprising to have that temperature in Alabama and Texas. Chountz, her house burn down because of her A/C window unit that caught in fire??!! Why did it caught in fire!!?? Sorry about that, and I like Victorian homes.

The A/C was pluged into an extension cord for starters the wires in the the house were old. My friend and his mom both worked with me and the house was left by there Grandma. Money was tight costly repairs to maintain this old home. The house was very nice for the age just needed work and as all ways CA$H. I feel bad because she had ask me to help her update the electrical wiring but she didn't have the money for supplies. No insurance to boot F****g icing on the cake. You can google it under Monico Salas house fire it's in MySA.com Metro.

Jean: No one in the US uses, or understands celsius.
Chountz: Very sorry to hear about your friends house. That's a very difficult thing to deal with. Most of the time old wiring is not dangerous, but anything wired incorrectly, or a circuit breaker box that will not trip properly can be dangerous. Be careful with extension cords too!

We had sunny weather for a while, then rainy. One night it was lightening around dusk, but no rain. Then at about 10 pm there was loud thundering and a heavy rain came down for at least an hour. It was all puddling in the yard. It was nice to go to sleep to though.
A/C units can be very dangerous with old wiring. Not a good idea to use with extension cords.

Exactly, NEVER plug an A/C with an extension cord. Or anything that use a lot of power. Like an heater its even worst. We use 3 A/C window units but we have electrical outlets just under the windows so its OK.
Today its a little warmer and sunny here. Its about 25C. Not really enough to use A/C but my Craftmade is on medium.

that's correct too jean, including space heaters too on NEVER pug them in extencion cords!
my old house i use to live in had window a/c unit with plug under it,so it's in good hands, the house i use to live was built in late 1960s(my friend owns the house & he turn it to duplex and rent 1 half of it to me & i lived there from 2-28-06 to 9-17-06,my hampton bay "grayson II" fan is there on my side along with window a/c unit in that same room, that house had centrel air,but the control of it is in my friend's side(but i have air vents from his centrel air on my side too) and i only control that 1 window unit..

If you're going to use an air conditioner with an extension cord, get one of those specific air conditioner extension cords. They're grey, 3 prong, and heavier duty.

The weather hasn't been that bad, actually. Been around 90 for a few days, but mostly in the 80s. A few weeks ago, we were hitting 100, with humidity. It was so hot and sticky outside. For some reason, Meriden seems to be in the track of severe thunderstorms. We used to have about four a week in the late afternoons. There's lots of lightning, and it gets very dark. Occasionally, there's a tornado warning, but none have ever made it to Meriden, *knock on wood*.
Chountz, very sorry for your friend. My house almost caught on fire. My street lost power, and when it got restored, the furnace kicked on. I was on the computer, and the smoke alarms started blaring, and there was smoke all over the basement. I hit the switch, checked everything out, and put my Lakewood in the window. I called my dad at work, and the repairman came in the evening. Turns out something was clogged, and the smoke went back into the house. What sucked was that there was like no heat during the day, as this was in the winter.
My house uses central A/C, so it cools down the house really quickly. They installed the thermostat to control it on a wall that contained the exhaust pipe for the furnace, so it was hot there. That meant that the thermostat has to be set to 84 for it to be comfortable.
I'm familiar with Celsius somewhat. I had to use it for Chemistry, and some Kelvin.
